Building machine, question regarding steel wool coating

Migrated topic.

Hello,
I'm currently building a machine and the only step I have left is to remove the coating off of the steel wool I bought.
I was wondering if soaking the wool in some distilled vinegar would do the trick, since I don't have a torch lighter and my BIC Lighter seems to be pretty ineffective.:
Cheers.

If there's no black smoke when you heat it with a lighter then there's no coating to begin with. But if there is, you need a blowtorch or an open flame to burn it all away.
More likely it has some sort of oil in it from the factory, which can be removed with alcohol.

Putting it in vinegar will rust it and give you a very wonderful rust-ic scent when you vape.
