Caapi Extract

Can anyone help me out? I'm trying to read this guide, Easy Caapi Vine Alkaloid Extraction Guide - DMT-Nexus Wiki

I don't get what I'm supposed to do after adding the lye. It says to allow the alkaloids to settle and the solution to clarify. Then, from what I understand, you siphon off the brown liquid, and it's not clear to me at all what I do after that.

Sorry if this is stupid, but I can't follow this guide at all.

I didn't used this tek but my understanding is you keep the precipitate and discard the brown liquid.
Then you put more water with the precipitate and let settle and once more you discard the liquid and keep solids.
You repeat this 2 times and you go next step [Acidify, Remove Insoluble Impurites]

as you add lye and solid powdery stuff starts to precipitate from the liquid, the alkaloids you are trying to extract are solidifying in the solution and droping to the bottom

after ading enough lye, no more solids will precipitate out of the solution
then all your alkaloids are in solid form meaning there are no more alkaloids in the liquid (robably a BIT more but not much)

thus you pour off the water as much as you can without disturbing the sediment, then add more water to "clean" up anything water soluble
repeat this until your alkaloids are a lighter c olor (usually 2-3 times)
then filter them and save the filtered solids

I think what was confusing me was that it says to save the liquid, but then the next step talks about adding water to the precipitate.

The saved water is used for overnight settling, from what I understand now.
