Calling artists for immersive project!

I have envisioned a new art form for years now, and I'm sure others have shared this vision as well..

In fact I'm left wondering why hasn't this happened already? Perhaps it has or it is to costly or the right team hasn't takcled it yer

What I'm talking about is sort of just like a 3d movie, but instead of your tradiotional movie plotline, it goes to music, sort of like fantasia, but with the theme of an entheogenic journey, with the video aspect being a visual interperitation of the music.

When I saw the shpongletron, shpongles 3d video mapping stage setup I thought that was awesome but thought it would be better on a full screen, and 3 dimensional. And more of a visual journey than just visuals I would like to incorporate a combination of real filming of say beatiful natural scenes with visual effects all going along with music.

Now people can watch 3d in their own houses. It could be on a dvd,

I'm sure it would take a lot of resources and time, but it could be groundbreaking, does anyone have thoughts?

This is also a call to artists to contribute their individual talents if we can get something like this going.

I do music and recording you can see my thread with my music, also I can sync music to video at any given interval in logic or pro tools, but I do not have the equipment or skill in the area or visual art like fiming drawing animation.

Any artisit or animators out there?

To make anything worth while and fitting of a true entheogenic audio visual experience in full 3D HD you require Hollywood style budget and a whole team of people who understand what they are trying to create.

Or a group of super pro renegade masters that have time and pro level equipment at hand.

I have seen a mirriad of hippy style productions attempting these types of projects and all fail dismally in my opinion.

Things like Shpongle stage and Phadroid are very amateur style productions in all honesty.

The other side of this is that while trying to visually represent hyperspace in 3D you will have to identify who's vision you are trying to convey and why that vision should be relevant to anyone else but the person that had it.

Being in the creative field myself I have always wondered about making that type of production but the older I get the more I don't see the point when a person that really seeks hypersapce can accesses it in its full personalised glory without anyone making an AV experience for him

The main thing is to ask yourself for what purpose would this type of thing get made, to popularise the subject matter, to entertain, etc. etc...

To make true art for arts sake especial if it is entheogenicly inspired, is a sacred quest, which is very difficult to pursue in groups ( without ego's flaring ) or with a large financial component ( unless you are funding it out of your own pocket )

The most disheartening part is that no matter how hard you try, you will still get a product that will be very far from the actual hyperspace experience One thing is to go to the moon and another is to see a great 3D film about it

I got chills at the end, when I realized that it started and ended with the Asian language writing floating in the air cause it seemed to me like it symbolized the death and rebirth of the linguistic ego, as tends to happen in a DMT breakthrough.

Sorry to say but this is exactly what I meant about hippy productions....

Dark, static, abstract, lifeless, meaningless ... so so far from the real thing...

If I saw things like that in hyperspace I would stop going there 8)

I personally think its a great idea, and within the realm of doability- but only if you scale the ambition back a bit.

Garmonium makes a number of very valid points. The immersive flawless 3D production you're talking about is pretty much out of reach to us for lack of budget, gear, single minded direction. It's something members would be doing in their spare time, so the project needs to be structured as such.

Here's one way you can go: first, we need a song. So we start a thread where members who produce music can submit songs specifically with this project in mind. Eventually we would (hopefully) come to a consensus about which song to choose.

Meanwhile, another thread is established inviting submissions of animated bits. There are quite a few Nexus members with animation skills... Try to encourage submissions of short, simple sequences of cool animated stuff to use as raw material. Gather some background stuff too- animated fractals etc. ideally we'd end up with way more raw material than needed, a broad palette to work from. If it goes well, this could remain a permanent library for ongoing new productions once the first one is finished.

Then it's just a matter of editing. I could possibly do that (here are some videos I produced)

Although we have a number of actual professional editors in our ranks who could no doubt do a cleaner job than I.

So then we have our very own first Nexus-produced video project. And we start on the second one.

I agree that any such efforts will fall far short of a true hyperspace experience. But I disagree with the assertion that this makes it not worth doing. Every passing year brings psychedelic art closer to the real thing, and we must sustain these efforts. This is as good a place for that as any.

And we've had great success so far with collaborative art projects at the Nexus... No ego problems at all. I expect this would translate across to video works.

So... Are you down for managing/organizing this thing? That would include trawling through the music/art/lit pages and making lists of members who do music, video, editing etc, and then PMing them. I can make an announcement for you when you're ready to get rolling. I don't have the time to manage this myself, but if you choose to take this on I'll do what I can to support it.

yeh that video was pretty good! crazy ive also had dream of syncing my music up to a 3d movie perfectly in sync to the music n if perform with a huge screen at a concert passing out 3d glasses to everyone 8) but indeed to create something truely stellar and groundbreaking would need a team of very talented video artists. The only thing ive seen till now that i really felt truely captured an ethnogenic journey was from blueberry/renegade and im sure that wasnt easy to make. But we can do something really great and if this project does go forward id b more than happy to contribute what i can n if we want to get this rolling, Guyomech's plan sounds like a very good way to start

I thought that video was unbelievable! That face has a similar spirit to it to a face I have seen many times while shroomin. The way it blends together and moves was very well done. Super cool stuff!

I think that video is proof that this project can be done. If people just sat around saying,
"It can't be done, so why try?" We'd never accomplish anything!

I was thinking it could be cool to have a point of view sequence where a real live person is about to trip with another person--say on pharma. Slowly the visuals begin. He looks over at his buddy who is also there, and the screen suddenly launched into hyperspace. Complete ego loss, and dancing out amongst the stars.

I think it's pretty important that things like this get made for the ones that a) are critical/judgmental about psychedelics, and b) for the ones that either are too afraid to journey or simply can't for whatever reason (medical, etc.). This way humanity as a whole can benefit from psychedelics, as it should (and always could have).

It would be interesting if some of the philosophy and different looks at life could be woven into the movie. Beyond the visuals, that seems most important.

I just wish I had cool computer skills to help you guys. I can draw, and that's about it.

@ Garmonium, while i respect your opinion, i disagree on most fronts. All things worth doing are hard and require great effort and dedication to accomplish. One could equally say why bother writing music when the most brilliant hyperspace orchestras are there to be heard all you need to do is trip etc. This is about bringing our vision and interperitation of the experience to OTHERS a way of sharing and integrating our experiences as well.

But this thread is not to debate wheather or not its possible it is here to collaborate resources and skills and get a cool video started! If we cant do full on 3d, oh well, we will do our best!

@ Guyomech- Your ideas are a great start of how we can get the ball rolling. Im more than happy to devote my resources and time to managing this project! Thank you for your suggestions! Very direct.

This is a good idea, i will browse the music art pages for nexus artists, off the bat the people who were involved in the front page landing page come to mind for visual artists....

Please feel free to make the announcement and call the attention of the artists guyomech! have them pm me or sign on in this thread, with what their skill is or vision is they have to contribute.

Also, if you know of any talented nexians that would be right for this project, let me know their names and I will solicite their help to save me the trouble of seeking them out.

My feeling is, we will find good art and music, we really need a good editor/animator, with quality gear and programs to fit the pieces together. My friend has made some really high quality videos using just Final Cut Pro he made an introduction to his production company that looks professional hollywood quality, but his interests arent in line with this project so I wont solicite his help just yet.

Also feel free to brainstorm ideas for the flow of the project here, what I mean is the content, what ideas do we have for the video itself?

I think we could have 2 options for the music (as guyomech touched on): A: We browse through music nexians have already made, and select ones relevant to the video, or B: We compose original material specifically for the video, obviously we would need a concept for the video before this...

Also it could be different songs, and evolving changing video scenes, or more of an entire “theme” where it is more consistant throughout...

How long a video are we talking here? The shorter the easier, but I was thinking more than the lenght of one song for sure....

So if you have interest, or ideas or skills to contribute, please share here, this project is officially rolling and will evolve!

I was thinking of doing something that gives scenes from different important entheogenic places in time. Sort of like how 1200 mics has that Album Time Machine where they do a musical interperitation of say, the Mayans, one for ancient greece, one for the future, the garden of eden etc. This way it would impose a non linear view of time, and show how all these events are connected.

Here are some scenes I would like to see: Opening with a ceremony around a fire, in say the desert by a temple: then on to maybe a blood ritual or sacrafice of the mayans, then onto the rainforest, the aqua realms, atlantis the future, these are just some places we could go, of course this is a very loose idea and is open to criticism and contribution.

One of my songs (or even a re-adaptation of it) called First Human, I think would be great to open this, and would go with an initiion, ceremonial vibe to open the video, you can find the song on my thread Minds of Infinity 2012, of course, in the end we will have to come up with a vision and I think the musicians we can collaborate together on the whole thing in a way that satisfies the vision of everyone.
