can anyone help with first time mescaline attempt? please

i have done my first mescaline extraction following the tek.. Erowid Cacti Vault : San Pedro Alkaloid Extraction
and ive done the proccess the wrong way round, im woundering if i can salvege the alcaloids or have i failed on this one??

i went from making the acidic tea , to putting caustic soda mix with water straight in from there,because i hadent read it properly i should have de fatted with naphta first... so after puting in the soda water mix in, i then put some naptha seperaited and drained the naptha and im now left with them both in separait jars, not knowing what to do..silly bugger,i know!!!
would apprecciate some advice please??

Why did you use naphtha? I'm not sure how well naphtha works for mescaline but that tek calls for xylene. I prefer toluene personally.

Sounds like your mescaline is in the naphtha. I would salt it out and rework from there - de-fat, base it and salt it out again.

defatting is a pain compared to basic crystallization/recrystallization
and you will want to reX anyways, so it is a major waste of time and resources ime

ps, murple is/was a smart guy, but things have come aways in 10years.....
as an example, look at MHRB extraction advances in the last 2-5yrs

The best tek for cacti IMO is this one.
No defat just base, pull and salt.
You can get really clean white mesc easily with little to no post wash if you use toluene to pull and HCl to salt.

Because the tek calls for acetic acid to pull:
"This vinegar will contain mescaline acetate. Evaporate your vinegar in a food dehydrator at 155 F to get waxy amber slightly impure mescaline acetate."
and that's what I've gotten every time using a drytek on cactus unless I precipitated with FASA, and even then the yield sucked.
I'll do a side by side with an A/B if you'll verify that this is the way to go.

Here is a post I made the first time I did this.
I did the "Pure white mescaline HCl" tech. Its the 2nd part of the wiki page I linked.
I have consistently gotten these results ever since. After salting I filter twice before evaporating. My yields are usually around 0.7%-0.8%

here is my situation so far on my first tek using this tek.. http://www.erowid.org/pl.../cacti_chemistry2.shtml
i boiled 60g cacti down using acidic water in to a gooie tea, then stupidly jumped the process by adding about 300ml of water and bout 3 large spoonfuls of caustic soda to the tea... then i realised i should have de fatted first off, so straight away i started to add around 200ml of naptha and seperated them and now after two days of not knowing what to do, can someone advise me on a solution, i still have everything in different jars...
iv also read that leaving the alkaloids in a caustic soda mix for more than 8 hours will kill the alkaloids...
so im thinking i have to bin it all and put it down to a bad experience...gutted

can anyone come up with a fix for me please??

my meterials are... citrus acid,naptha,caustic soda,acetone??

I did. Salt the alks out of the NP and defat the acid solution before doing step 6.
Mysmelf said the same thing - and he's right, mescaline isn't very soluble in naptha, so the alks might still be in the basic solution.

Salting means to add acid right??
How much vinager should be added to say 300ml of NP??
