Can technology replace psychedellics?

Migrated topic.

Technology became really interesting to me creatively when whatever application or thing I was working with become complex enough that it begins to demonstrate almost organic like qualities of itself. Like your interfacing with something that has more potential responses it could produce then you could have imagined on your own. Where it becomes not so much like your projecting your imagination to a medium, but rather your working with this other entity that is just as complex as you, with just as much influence over the result, and because of that, you cannot really foresee what it will produce.

A good example of this in technology is in making electronic music. You know I can sit and pluck chords on a guitar, but it gets old to me really quickly, I can fully wrap my mind around the full potential of the guitar. However if I load up a synthesizer app, theres just so much intricacy, and you can twist this knob, twist that knob, hit this button, and all of sudden you have something you previously couldn't of imagined.

yeh i hear you, because of music production technology and its possibilities, ive somehow became addicted to it like a drug where if i dont produce for a couple days become restless, i constantly also find inspiration in new synthesizer sounds that spark creativitity .n it really does seem like im sometimes communicating with some kind of organic lifeform at times, that many times seems like its trying to create itself, where what i talked about before comes into play, learning not to control it which would be the ego where most crap derives, but let it create itself and psychadeics help this greatly for me personally. Regarding your previous question if we need internet/technology or the psychedelics, i dont think its a one sided thing, i think we need both. They both play an important role in our advancement and evolution. n hell yeh id check out space but dont think id stay there, here feels like home

well said dio thanks for the perspective... when it comes to electronic music I have to agree as it is quite a passion of mine... and I guess many people have differen't passions so theres a wide range of ways it can be employed. I do still find I need the aid of nature and time away from the screen though to get a lot of my ideas when I use programs for music. Technology could never replace psychedelics for me either, its a completely differen't tool. Consciousness kind of projects onto technology into a very organised and precise manner in ways it could not do so normally, while psychedelics almost recalibrate consciousness itself and take one much deeper internally. They can be good allies though

As I walk the playa at night during burningman I cannot tell what is burningman and what are the effects of psychedelics. I have walked the playa at night sober. It damn sure looks and feels like Im tripping.

TV acts as a drug causing your brain to produce alphawaves in one hemisphere while the other side produces opiates resulting in what can be typified as 'brain mush' or if you prefer 'stir fried mind mulch' instead.

that and electric lights prevent people from sleeping

the computer's main purpose these days which is the internet makes the aquisition of knowledge a less of a reward,

cell phones seem to hypnotize people in an unhealthy way

and that's just the digital stuff, but the rest of technology makes people if not forget eachother, it has the capacity to dull the mind, and dilutes the reward of doing something that we could do without whatever it maybe, like driving to the store instead of jogging, it entertains us and as we grow to use it more and more technology ultimately makes us believe we need the ingenuity of others when life is really more gratifying putting more effort using our own. Corporations, advertisements and material indulgence have just played their part...
when a commercial comes on our eyes become glossy, weighing price and product qaulity our eyes extrapolate the object for possible signatures as a handy tool in our own lives... when we don't really use our ears to hear the words "buy, buy, buy, buy...!" over and over everytime you flip the tv on.

Some people like me are happier with instead of more things... less.

Technology is mankind's drug, it's main effects are lethargy, delusional one sided conversations to machines, judging the way it's intrusiveness has brought the worst aspects for each culture into everyone's house hold, makes most people lazy, is the harbinger of the worst kinds of music, has desecrated the providence of good old fashioned book reading and bends people in will to depend on it life long. putting it easily... technology is a disease

in the customer friendly world. 😉

just ranting, but if you must ask I 'am a technophobe. so you're welcome
