Can you freeze precip 99% IPA?

Hey guys, quick question. SWIM is cleaning up his first time extraction yield. He has 0.4g of yellow powder that contains a few gunky bits.

He has dissolved it into some IPA. When he did this he noticed a lot of dirt and other stuff floating in it.

Would the best thing to do be to freeze precip so he can then be left with the gunk still in the IPA and he can pour this off afterwards?

Or just straight evap at room temp?

DMT is too soluble in IPA.

If there's undissolved crap, filtering it and evapping may be a good idea.

Have any activated carbon or fumaric/citric acid in pure form? Crashing it out as the salt and then freebasing again would prob get it the cleanest. Or possibly you could add water to it, and the dmt would crystallize out as the freebase. Not too sure on that last idea though, just a though.

just filter your IPA through funnel and cotton, run a bit of fresh IPA after to catch little alkaloid-ladden IPA that is trapped in the cotton, and evaporate it. That will clean a bit from the floating stuff. You cant really recrystallize dmt freebase with IPA as you would with naphtha, and it neither freeze precipitates because freebase is too soluble in it even at freeze temperatures.

This has some potential, though it would take some experimenting. If it was concentrated enough in IPA (to the point of saturation), the water mixing with the IPA should force it out of solution. It could effect yield tho.

Indeed, i did a few quick google searches and there was a thread on the nexus about it, but no-one who said they were going to test it reported back. Sparked my interest enough to start a mini experiment. Took ~190mg of light yellow waxy dmt and dissolved it in ~6ml of acetone. Filtered it well, and added about 10ml of distilled water.

Nothing has precipitated so far (~4hrs since mixing), but I'm going to let it sit overnight and hopefully it will precipitate in time. If not I'll just leave it uncovered to evap a little bit and maybe that will push the dmt out.

6 ml might have been too much. I would try adding IPA or acetone dropwise to the 190 mg with stirring until it all dissolves. Then try adding the water the same way and note when you start to see precipitation.

Also putting in the fridge or freezer might help with precipitation.
