Chloroform vs Naptha

Migrated topic.

I have a friend of a friend who has Chloroform and l-grade ethanol as well as other solvents that I cannot pronounce or spell. The friend tried an extraction using vpm naptha and hated the smell but was not sure if he should borrow something else (like chloroform) from the friend of a friend which would be sure to draw out the spice in a STB experiment. Will Chloroform give the same yield as naptha? Also if the friend is following one of the online recipes would he use the same ratios as he would when using naptha? Is 200% ethanol useful as a solvent? Thanks from my friend for any help.

Is my question stupid? SWIM is new to spice. Although dabbling in entheogens for 25 years he has never had the luck of finding any and has finally decided that the Goddess helps those who help themselves. SWIM has access to lab-grade chemicals but does not know any chemistry (flunked the introductory chem course in college, although I did pass in high school). It seems to me that SMIM should not mess with naptha since there are probably better alternatives under his nose that he does not recognize in his chemistry stash. Even some flaming would be better than the deafening silence.

Geez man calm the fuck down. Its less than a day. This isnt a busy board. Not many people here have used chloroform. Myself included. But from my reading Im going to venture that chloroform will pull a much broader spectrum of substances than naptha. Could be interesting.

If your friend didn't like the smell of naptha then he should be cautious with chloroform. Just smelling it can knock you out. And one question. How can ethanol be more than 100% ? Haven't heard of 200% ethanol before

Nice catch, you are right, the ethanol is lab grade 100%. I guess this your brain on drugs. I am just wondering if chloroform would evaporate cleaner then vpm naptha, or maybe there are other items in a laboratory setting which would be be cleaner solvents.

Chloroform is a known liver toxin, which is bad; also can knock you out, which is bad.On the plus side it's non-flammable, evaporating your pulls or distilling to reuse your solvent would be fire risk free.

I have used chloroform and I can say is not a good choice. You end up with a goo that is difficult to work with and is not as efficient as naphtha. It partially pulls DMT and other alkaloid/s, probably Yuremamine. Naphtha (petroleum ether), heptane and hexane seem to be the best extraction solvents for DMT.
