If there happened to be a pile of crud mixed in xylene would this help
1. carbonate wash at a 1 to 1 volume to help pull what remained of water soluble stuff away then toss water.
2. 1 to 1 vinegar with a quantity of zinc estimated at 1 to 1 of possible oxide content or slightly more.
3. stir for 2+ hours like tek says for oxide removal. I am thinking if the xylene layer is left on the top it would stir with it then after stirring the layer of xylene gets tossed.
4. Carbonate to base the water layer then fresh new solvent used to extract the dmt.
On step three would leaving the xylene there during zinc use cause a problem?
