Here are about 7 of my coca plants... E. coca var. coca

I don't really know anything about growing them, but I know that I need to transplant them into larger containers.

Very nice! I'm pretty unfamiliar with the coca plant though I'm interested in cultivating my own some day. Looks healthy to me!

Thanks. :)

I ordered 50 seeds from a vendor in Peru that is listed within the suppliers subforum here on the nexus.

About half were already germinating in the package (packaged in a moist way), and they added an extra seed.

I don't know if they needed to be kept moist, but the other half, I dried out.

I would still recommend that supplier in a private message, if anyone wants to know.

Thanks everyone. :d

I sampled some small leaves that had fallen from the plants, I thought that they were bitter, and I did not like the taste.

I have not sampled enough to get any effects that I noticed; I don't really have enough material to do anything with... yet.

I currently intend to use them in a tincture of ethanol- I don't normally drink alcohol, but I want to use it in a concentrated way, and I have noticed that talk of even personal-use extractions will get a thread locked quickly, and tincture talk won't (I get it).

When using leaves in an ethanol tincture, does the tincture contain chlorophyll?

If so, is that a not-preferable thing, and how is the chlorophyll removed from the tincture, if that's preferable?

Coca leaves on their own dont taste that good, but coupled with some lime or sodium bicarb taste much better and along with glowing energy, give your mouth a subtle pleasant numbing.

SWIM enjoys shredding a few leaves and packing in a empty tea bag with some sodium bicarb, then taking a nice afternoon hike.

I thought I had always heard that they have to grow at high altitudes to produce the desired alkaloid. Is this not the case?

If not I'll have to tell my buddy who was talking about making a patio then attaching it to weather balloons to have a coca garden in the clouds, that his idea is completely ridiculous and unnecessary. 😁

Although I suppose it's entirely possible that you have your plants growing at a high altitude. Unfortunately there aren't many places like that around where I live. Maybe one day...

Yeah ethanol tincture does pull chlorophyll, no it doesn't hurt anything.

A strong ethanol tincture of coca leaves can be quite a bit moar zippy than the most of the "cocaine" out there in the larger western countries, but being a full plant extract feels a lot healthier and more holistic. I mention this only as a precaution that one should tread carefully with coca extract; it is as, and in many cases quite a bit more, powerful than street cocaine.

Beautiful plants btw, you are very fortunate to be a keeper of the most sacred medicine of Andes. May your relationship with mama coca be only healing and beneficial. <3

The high altitude thing is a myth.
However, E.Coca is more sensitive that E.Novo and E.Coca is grown at higher altitudes but that is because it have a better climate there.
All Coca variety can be grown given the right climate and temps.
E.Novo is more forgiving and is said to be easier to grow.
The alkaloid content differs a bit but if one take into account leaf size, amount of leaves and how often one can harvest the two are very similar and both are used for illegal Coca production.

Nice plants.
I have started seedlings of both variety's but they are still small.
I wish mine can be as big and lovely as yours one day.

Cosmic Spore, you might want to look up information about cocaethylene. It's a compound formed in the body when cocaine and alcohol are consumed together. It supposedly has higher activity than cocaine alone, but also carries additional risks.

I don't know how a full spectrum tincture figures into this, but I thought you might like a heads up.

Also, you mentioned drying the seeds. If I recall correctly they have to be sown fresh. Drying kills them. :(

Health risks, or Overdose risks?

Please elaborate...

Thank you.

Varrr nice.... :surprised

If you don't mind me asking how long they took to get as big as the initial pics?
