Coleman Camp Fule Vs Ronsonal

Hi Guys, I'm sure alot of you already know that getting Naptha here in Canada is not quiet as easy as some other parts of the world. The 2 main options we have, well at least where I live are Colemans camp fule and Ronsonal.

I would just like to know if anyone (especially if you are from Canada) has used both as Naptha and if either one was better then the other?

I have been using Ronsonal for my extractions and seems to be working fine....Yields are low but i'm pretty sure i have low quality bark

I have done some research on this topic both here and around the net and keep getting conflicting answers???

It would be great if I could switch to Colmans because it come in a much larger tin and is way cheaper then the tiny plastic bottles of Ronsonal I have been using.

Sorry if this is a really basic question, im still pretty new to this and dont know enough about what makes good Naptha.

Don't use the Coleman's fuel, it has nasty additives.

Check out "MSR Superfuel"

Available at SAIL and MEC stores.

Might be hard finding it where I live....the only places around where I live are Canadian Tire and HomehardWare.

I have used it. It's pure naphtha and it evaporates clean (unlike Coleman fuel).

Looking at the Coleman fuel MSDS, it says of the appearance, that it is a "clear, green, light hydrocarbon liquid".

Since, out of the "Cyclohexane, Nonane, Octane, Heptane, Pentane," mentioned as (being 100% of) the ingredients, all are colourless, the product must contain a green dye. What other undeclared additives are there in Coleman fuel?

Nice of them to remove the neurotoxic hexane, though!

There may be a rust inhibitor causing the green coloration that is not listed on the msds.

you may be able to call them & get the info out of them.

Looking at the boiling points, that would fractionally distil fairly well:
Nonane 150.4 °C
Octane 125.1 °C
Heptane 98.1 to 98.7 °C
Cyclohexane 80.74 °C
Pentane 35.9 °C

But that's far from basic (although rather simple).
