Hi, I recently received a sample of 4-aco-dmt that is really dark brown. The stuff I've had before is a light tan color and hasn't degraded in a couple of years, so I'm wondering what is up with the coloration? I read one post on a board before saying dark brown Aco was possibly potent and decent, but I would love some more imput. I'm a little too paranoid to take photos of the bags, or is there any way I can remove photo information so it is anonymous? thanks

also, as a side note, the one effect I get sometimes with 4-aco-dmt that I do not get with psilocybin mushrooms is a slight tremor, possibly because it is metabolized so fast instead of the extended release as your body digests the fruiting bodies of fungi?

Could just be a poorer synthesis in comparison to white or tan powder/crystals.

In my experience, darker 4-AcO-DMT was still very potent, and I didn't notice any differences between it, and higher quality psilacetin. However, I did have to dose slightly higher with it, I assume because of impurities that were present in the batch.

I used to keep some of my 4-aco-dmt (which was a tan powder originally) in R/O water. One bottle got left in a bad spot for months long once, and it started to get a darkish brown color to it. I noticed a slight loss in potency I thought (measured many doses accurately by syringe), but not enough to be remotely upsetting

I've had both lighter/tan aco and dark brown and I was unable to notice any differences. Also I've noticed that tremor thing as well, that's one of the ONLY things about the aco I'm not fond of.. Every other aspect of the trip feels so natural, but when I get those it just feels so drug like if you know what I mean..

I have some 4aco-mipt that degraded into a black goo after some time in a moist bag, anyway it seems fine to use it.

I've seen degradation happening with many different 4-HO and 4-AcO tryptamines, specialy in solution. Im not sure what they can degrade to but they usually turn brown/blackish. Using TLC they still show the original substance spot (meaning at least part of the substance is still intact) but they also start showing some other spots, which is a clear sign of degradation. I've also seen 4-AcO-DMT that came very dark, it might also be a synthesis without proper care in final cleaning stages. Pure 4-AcO-DMT should be white, and it should not degrade significantly even in a couple of years if stored dry and dark.

Regardless whether it comes from a bad/unclean synthesis or if it's a degradation product, remember even if it subjectively "feels fine" for someone else who took it, this is by no means a guarantee of safety. It could be degradation/unclean synth products are minor, it could be degradation/unclean synth products are active, or inactive, or less toxic than parent compound, or much more toxic, or dangerous only long-term, or safe long-term, etc.. Nobody knows. Thats the thing with RCs, there are no guarantees. Also there's the danger of mislabelling products. Proceed at your own risk (obviously), but please avoid regular / high dosage consumption of these compounds.

Please look into testing your products. While TLC kits are not yet available, at least check out some reagents like marquis etc to see if you're not getting some mislabelled product.

Be safe, all!
