Dark Visuals in ChangaLand

Migrated topic.

Greetings Nexians!

I have had quite an interesting experience with a batch of Changa that I have been working with. It has happened a couple of times, and just recently this morning when I decided to smoke a bowl that had been sitting in my Chubbler (Changa Bubbler). The bowl had a pretty decent dosage in it -- the typical amount that I would start with in other sessions + a little bit of crystals mixed in to give it more of an effect....

So I smoke it, and everything gets wobbly as expected, but when I close my eyes, I am greeted with a wall of dark purple/ red, which is almost black. It was as if the visuals were incased in an oil sick, which I could barely see through. I was entering Changa-space, but through a filter. I was unable to progress, so I packed another bowl, and went in a little deeper. The darkness lifted, but everything was moving so slowly... It was quite odd, but enjoyable.

I was just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience, and had insight behind why this could be happening. It doesn't happen that often, but I have noticed it a couple of other times.

Has this happened to you?

Yeah, it can happen, it's happened with me before with changa.

If it's not going, I stop and have a small glass of water.

Then I have another little bit packed, and usually that 2nd try can do it. Or sometimes even with multiple attempts you can be barred. Eventually I burst through.

Yes I've also had this sort of thing happen on occasion. I still have all the usual body sensation from the changa but the visuals just aren't there.
Not really sure what causes it, I just take it as my cue to try again another time.

Ah, so it's not just me. It's pretty unusually, in a sense of how odd it appears visually. I think it's happened about three times, but I follow it with an even larger bowl, and am usually where I intended...

Slow crawling dark geometry, that goes from dark purple, into vibrant gold..then it opens up, like something had to come through from the other side to transport me elsewhere.

I know it sounds funny, but I'd rather have an experience where everything is moving in hyperspeed like someone hit fast forward, than for everything to move slow like sludge. It creeps me out when that happens. I'll take the high intensity of a blindingly fast experience any day.

I think it's important to distinguish the amount of harmalas getting put into peoples blends.

For instance - adding a high ratio of harmalas to herbs to dmt, the experience is going to come on really slow, and either you have to take the dose quickly initially [whole dose in 1-2 hits], or ime have less harmalas.

More times than not when I've had dark/drab visuals starting out [rare], it just took one more solid puff and it was like being shot from a cannon, not even the same experience.

I think people can go too high on the harmalas too with changa and are not taking big enough hits initially, and/or not taking enough hits. [though some like the 1:1:1 ratio of harmalas to dmt to herb or close to, which is just too heavy a blend and ultra slow and a very very different experience from freebase, which I never cared for. Even 500mg harmalas:1g dmt:1g herb is too much to me]

Also, with too high of a harmala ratio it can be reallll slow to onset sometimes.. Sometimes I think with high harmala ratio blends you can get 'stuck', kind of straddling on the edge, it can be a real odd time, that's why I don't add much to my smoking blends.

250-300mg harmalas:1g dmt:1g herbs, not much different from freebase dmt at all ime, just enough to potentiate that initial buildup of tryptamines in the brain, enough so I can get through the door [but once im through there isn't nothin slow about it  . At this dosage for me, clearing it in 1-2 hits, just as fast as freebase ime, maybe just a click slower, but im probably splitting hairs there.

***EDIT: Not to knock on harmala heavy changa blends, they definitely have their place and their own unique experience, no doubt, but they are a much different experience from a low-harmala type changa blend or freebase dmt.

I've had that black curtain effect on a number of occasions.
I have often suspected location & setting to have a role in this somehow .

When I smoke changa [1:1:0.5], I pretty regularly think about the harmala related differences between my changa-smoke- and freebase-vape-experiences.

I am going to make my next batch like this, 1:1:0,25. Thank you for the recommendation.

"Changa in tha bonga" is just so user-friendly. I love freebase dmt as well but to me, it is always some kind of messing around.

Save and happy travels, tseuq

Hrm yeah, that harmala beld was pretty high with that batch. I think for the next batch I am going to make 2 blends -- one with a lower harmala count, and the other with a really high one. Right now my ratio is about 3:1:3 (h/dmt/herb), which proved to be a little excessive with the herbs.

Really curious to see a 1:1 harmala blend, as I am pretty fond of that aspect with aya.

I love harmala heavy changa. The last blend I made was 1:1:0.6, 600mg caapi extracted harmalas and I ended up taking about 100mg sublingually as well before smoking to get the full effect. I do mostly low/medium doses so not looking to breakthrough from this but to experience the extended afterglow with long dream sequences.

Made a pipe yesterday with a sandwich of changa, pure harmine freebase dusted over it and mapacho to top it off. There was only a short period of cev's, tryptamine body buzz and carrier wave before the trip turned to something else, closer to what Ive experienced on vine-heavy aya brews. I was lying in bed, blissfully floating, my thoughts flying off in all directions and dreamlike visions in my mind's eye. Around me, the dimly lit room was transformed by jungly vegetation, vines and webs strewn over every surface.

Strangely, when I briefly turned the light on to look for a water bottle, all appeared mostly normal with just a bit of tryptamine 'glow'.

I also feel somewhat 'protected' by the harmalas, against the alien craziness of the dmt. More grounded.
