Could you perform an extraction on MHRB using Dimethoxyethane / DME in a similar way to cannabis to get an extract that could be further cleaned up using A/B?
Im not sure about the exact method you’re referring too but I don’t think it is a very effective way since the DME is miscible in water. Also if you’re going to do an AB anyway I don’t see the advantage of the extra step.
DME also has a high risk of forming explosive peroxides, so it shouldn't be evaporated without following the established safety procedures. Always read the SDS!
Only was looking into it as although it is an extra step I didn't know if it would be worth it as a quicker way to reduce the amount of staying material. I wouldn't be trying to mix DME with water. I would use it in the same way as making cannabis bho. It would be used to extract mhrb and evaporated off. This crude extract would then be used in place of mhrb. Just though it might be easier than filtering and reducing down water which I would like to do because I want to reduce the amount of base used.
Evaporating DME is potentially dangerous, as I previously said, because of its tendency to form explosive peroxides. These peroxides would also have the capacity to convert DMT to the N-oxide, which I wouldn't view as particularly desirable.
In a closed system (like BHO extraction) it would be OK. It's the exposure to atmospheric oxygen that leads to peroxide formation, something that's harder to avoid in a typical DMT extraction.
I'm not saying it can't be done, rather that you would be working with an experimental procedure and you would have to work out some of the details for yourself.
