DMT Disappeared after Recrystalization

I recently did my first extraction, and at first it was a success! Beautiful white crystals! After the freeze precipitation step and drying the crystals completely, I noticed a bit of brown residue. Perfectionist that I am, I decided to recrystallize:
  1. I warmed up 50g of naphtha, added it to my baking dish and dissolved the DMT.
  2. Poured the naphtha-DMT solution into a glass.
  3. Used a glass baster to carefully remove nearly all of the naphtha from the impurities.
  4. Poured the naphtha-DMT solution back into the baking dish and stuck it in the freezer for 12 hours.
However, after 12 hours, there were no crystals at all. It was like it was just plain naphtha.

What did I do wrong? Where did the DMT go?

The DMT must still be in the naphtha. Maybe you used too much for the amount of DMT to precipitate, bear in mind that precipitation only happens when the solution becomes saturated, so too little concentration of DMT will result in little to no precipitation even at freezer temperatures.

I'd evaporate the naphtha using a fan (in a very well ventilated area) until the surface starts getting cloudy when under the fan or blowing on it. Then, try freeze precipitation again.
