I recommend that the moderators familiarize themselves with a compound called diphenhydramine, it is an over the counter drug used for nausea/sleep-aid/allergies.

It helps in low doses to combat general nausea associated with drugs like hmmm...amanitas.

I don't give a flying frak if he changed his name to PCP OD. This is ridiculous.

Not even a SINGLE warning. And banned for either a name change or mentioning an OTC medication. Bizarre, but about what I expected.

And will mods go ahead and continue to chat about non-classics whenever they want with no harsher consequences than me saying "double standard?" Boo.

It's really alright Pandora I much rather discuss psychoactives with individuals who understand the difference between first-generation antihistamines than the vast universe of stimulants, depressants, psychedelics, and opiates that are available on the grey market.

It's actually more depressing than anything, and a big waste of time trying to do anything about it.

I appreciate the school-yard name calling too, typical from a cynical, egotistical mod such as House.

I think the new policy pretty clearly shows that we shouldn't have to familiarize ourselves with any specific compounds as it's not the compounds themselves that determine if they're ok or not to discuss (I guess with the exception of in the chat, which is limited to 'classic psychs' anyway). Does that make sense? Am I missing something?
 
I'm pretty sure this has to do with some misconception about what Diphenhydramine is. With all the things going on some are a bit on edge.

I will talk with all who are involved with this.

I am just confused here as to why they were taking diphenhydramine..mostly because 2 days ago I was in the chat talking about it becasue I ate some diphenhydramine at the tail end of a mushroom trip. I got stupid and was not thinking when I went to check on some of the last jars I had innoculated in this container..and I was starting to come down from a psilocin peak..I knew there was probly contam in there but my mind was not thinking that way really and when I opened it I breathed in spores and within 20-25 minutes had this rash forming on my stomach all red and burning and people in the chat told me to take benadryl..and I had to talk about it in the chat becasue I was seriousily freaking out looking at my stomach while tripping like that and I needed to know if it was okay to take it with psilocin etc..

I dont really understand why someone would want to take diphenhydramine other than as an antihistamine? I mean some people take it for the anticholinergic effects at high doses but it is toxic and I can imagine how shitty it must be. Even at the dose I took it made me feel sort of weird and sedated and hurt my stomach a bit, and I had a headache later.

Was the context of it's use in chat here as a medicine to counteract negative effects of amanitas or just as a recreational thing?

Edit..nm I see it was used to combat nausea. That makes sense.
 
I don't know if it's just me but it seems like the kick/ban was made due to name change (Hydroxyethane -> Ethanol -> Discouraged substance) ? Good vibes on the issue.

And the interaction was far from an isolated event...it's easy to say something was an overreaction, but when nerves are frayed due to nitpicking from the back and forths of the past month or so, perhaps there's a contextual understanding to be had.

Nothing happens in a vacuum; as we can only affect our own actions/emotions, it would behoove us all to attempt to interact on this forum with the "noblest of intentions."
 
I think diphenhydramine may be extremely unpleasant if combined with MAOI's like in ayahuasca.

I have once experimented with a simmilar substance because i expected it to boost psychedelic effects as datura does (both are anticholinergic's that are effective against nausea, so they have some simmilar mechanism of action). Breathing became incredibly difficult.

It would be safest to assume that antihistamines are not to be combined with any psychedelic that is/contains a MAOI (ayahuasca, ibogaine, peyote, etc) or that have bronchoconstrictive effects (LSD, psilocin, etc).

Even not in VERY small amounts.
 
I can safely say that after talk with those involved all is resolved peacefully. :)

And as Fractal points out again, it's all about respect and context. And in this case versus the nausea it is clear that both criteria were met easily.

Personally I see little value with diphenhydramine use from a nausea standpoint with tryptamine and phenylethylamine based psychedelics.

The context it was mentioned had to deal with amanitas, in which I find that diphenhydramine actually smooths out the come-up and eases nausea better than ginger or cannabis. For classical psychedelics I would suggest ginger or cannabis though as they are unmatched nausea reducing drugs.

Like Trav said, I feel that the situation has been resolved.
