DMT-acetate reacted with Razorblade??

DMT-acetate tincture was dried on a glass slide at approx 100ºC, until the smell changed from vinegar to dmt. This was then left at room temperature for 12 hours. no change was noticed.

However, after the goo was scraped up onto a razorblade, the DMT-acetate/freebase goop seemed to coagulate after 5 hours or less

does anyone know what this is/why this happened? it is a waxy dry material and seemed to form some semblance of crystals as it dried out. attached below is a picture.

Razor blade steel is a martensitic stainless steel with a composition of chromium between 12 and 14.5%, a carbon content of approximately 0.6%, and the remainder iron and trace elements.

If I had to guess, it would be from the density of the alkaloids collected from the scraping, also whipping them up like people do with hash oil to make "Wax"

I'm no chemist, though. Smoke it.

Possibly, however, I only passed the razorblade over the goo once, there was no whipping involved and agitation was kept to a minimum, I will assay this later when I get the chance, weight of the goo was 36mg, weight of the wax is 39mg, (may be due to inaccurate scale, but it leads me to believe the metal may have caused a change in structure through some form of catalysis, or possibly oxidized or added something to the goo, rather then looses water since the weight decreased)

More likely something from the tincture than the steel. Was this canary yellow freeze precipitated at some point? Were you expecting canary yellow? Did the blade appear to rust any, because 12 hours of exposure to vinegar drying out would make it rust? If it is still shiny metal, it probably doesn't have anything to do with the color.

With goo, it generally helps to move it around, spread it out, chop it up, to get it to solidify. What you have looks like typical jungle spice, if were still calling it that. I think this is what house might be referring to. It can start out looking like honey, even a golden color, but when dried out it is translucent and waxy and might still be sticky. If you have goo, it will never be crystals drying out as such, so you need to disturb the surface area to get as much exposure to air as possible, because it forms an outer shell that prevents further drying. If you dried the acetate untouched, without disturbing it, then there is more than likely some vinegar still trapped inside.

The glass slide evaporation trick works better on a few drops at a time. What you have there looks like it must have been a bunch of drops if not several mL.

I dunno, I live in vancouver where it is really humid so mine always is gooey but it might just be your climate that makes it different.

I've left jimjam on a razor blade for days and it usually just gets a little thicker and gooeyer (tomato soup--->cold molasses) but many people have had solid jimjam like that.

If you are (understandably) apprehensive about smoking it then I'd recommend putting a small chunk on a copper-mesh-ball, melt it and torch the ball. If >90% of the stuff vaporizes off in plumes then it would seem to be jimjam.

the tincture is 49% dmt by weight - i will do another experiment soon, disturbing/scraping half onto another glass slide and the other again with the razor blade

the razor had no apparent oxidation itself, but when i assayed it, there was mainly just the bodyload and some slight visual distortions, nowhere near breakthrough at approx 30mg. However, the method i used to smoke may have just been inefficient, since it was so waxy, i think it may not have vaporized as quickly as the pure white crystals i'm used to. I was a bit worried that the razorblade cause an oxidation of the jimjam since it was much less visual, but still had the feel to it, but less so after reading these posts.

That looks like what normally happens to my acetates in a similar situation...I wouldn't worry about it, it's one of the reasons manual re-x is effective and imo, has to do with the exposure of more/different areas of the initial goo to oxygen. This allows it to dry out/coagulate and go from goo to wax...this happens every time I've done the acetate>>>fb heat conversion in an environment that doesn't have an excess of humidity.
