DMT Does What?

This could be a dumb question.
Does anyone know what DMT does or how it does it?
Some of the stuff I've seen with my eyes closed (with them open is pretty mad too) is shocking.
I cant believe my brain would make up stuff like that.
I know people have theories , but does any one actually know ?
I was gonna buy The Sprit Molecule but it only comes in paperback and I only deal in hardbacks .
Did that Straus dude come up with anything.

Some searching could clear up most of these questions, but here's some bullet point answers

Does anyone know what DMT does or how it does it?

It's a tryptamine that interacts with certain serotonin receptor sites. I've read that it may synchronize these receptors to "fire" in unison, but I'm no longer sure where I've gotten that from. If true, it could possibly explain some of the similarities between near-death states or the visionary comatose state that Dr. Ebin Alexander described where he claimed that there was no brain activity. Perhaps whether these receptors firing all together or not at all can equate to a similar experience, but this is all just my big speculation.

I cant believe my brain would make up stuff like that.

Me neither. I think the brain has something to do with modulating the experience, but how much of the content it provides, I don't know.

Only dealing in hardbacks isn't really much of a good excuse. If you wanna read the book, then just read it in paperback (or perhaps it's available in a digital format); no need to get pretentious over the publishing. Also, it's not Straus, it's Strassman.

I collect books, only on subjects of interest to me and I will only buy Hardbacks .
I cant help the way I am .
The phrase I find that fits with the DMT experiences is, "Not of this world" that's the only way to explain the things I've seen.
Some times graphical other times HD realistic footage .
Its beautiful .

"DMT Spirit Molicule" if u have netflix i highly suggest lokking into it, if not another source but it is something to take a strong step to,

peace and harmony!
Afaik, this is a hypothesis and is not an established fact.

There seems to be confusion here.

It sounds like darklordsson is referring not to DMT, but Tryptophan, one of the 22 standard amino acids.

The tryptophan molecule is almost exactly like the DMT molecule. I forget the exact atoms missing, but it's something small like 2 extra bonded carbon atoms or something added to the tryptophan makes DMT.

This is what they say in the Spirit Molecule. It doesn't say that DMT is in everybody, even though it's easy when watching that part of the documentary to assume that's what they meant. If you go back and watch it again, you'll see that they are talking about the molecule in all of us that is extremely similar to DMT, not DMT itself.

Aside from this fact, Strassman hypothesizes that the Pineal gland produces DMT during events such as birth, death, NDEs, OBEs, etc. This is not proven.

I have never read that it is in everything, but that is very widespread in mammal and plants is trace amounts. There is DMT in the grass you walk on, but extraction for useable DMT is futile.

 Just prior to one of the most recent trips to hyperspace I was lucky enough to endure, I was trying to alleviate my preflight jitters by telling myself to remember that its just MY mind, MY brain, and that MY thoughts cant hurt me.

Just after being dumped off the carrier wave, a banner of telepathic letters scrawled across my consciousness, effectively saying "Oh no its not!". Yeah, DMT is a communication tool.

On the subject of content has anyone noticed that their lesser creative companions have less profound experiences?

I can only speak for myself. I excel at writing, and find a great passion in writing and creating music. I probably fit the creativity bill pretty well, and I've had prolifically profound experiences. While I can't purport to be in the heads of those I've administered it to, including my brother to whom I'm related, it seems that none of them really report much of anything close to what I seem to experience. I would have to guess my brother might come close, but it's a numbers game compared to the others because he's done it more with me than anyone else has.

Having said that, I would be hesitant to imply that it is the creative part of the personality that is better at "dreaming" these profound experiences up. Perhaps it is easier to relay the experiences, their content and profundity with a creative personality when it comes to analyzing the experience and assigning appropriate words and metaphors which might not come so well to those who don't regularly engage their creative sides.

It is strange how it effects some people.
One of my friends hasn't broken through yet nor has he seen anything close to what I have seen or felt. I assumed it was because mentally he was fighting it, on a deep down level.
I cannot understand how DMT operates with regards to how much and when it will effect me.
Last night I did 100mg of Changa in one puff. That's 33mg DMT / 33mg Harmala / 33mg Leaf and nothing happened.
I could feel the DMT inside me but no CEV on only some slight OEV.
Other times I've done far less and had an amazing experience .

Yep, that's DMT for ya. This kind of thing has happened to me so many times. It's like there's this connection that needs to exist. You can have so much DMT in you, but if that connection isn't there, it can be entirely underwhelming. There have been times when I've been in the middle of a strong experience and the disconnect happens for one reason or another, and the visuals are still there, but the interactivity is dead. It's like the scene is now happening around me instead of to me.

One of the more striking examples of this was one time, I was having a closed-eye vision of the godhead. Now somehow, I got derailed and disconnected from the experience. I know that it will go no further, so I opened my eyes. Two things you have to understand is that the godhead is quite gigantic, and my bedroom is pretty small...so the godhead pretty much takes up most of the space in my open eyed room. I had this big godhead hologram in my room like a holy beached whale. I decided to get up and explore a bit. Since it had filled my room like a fluid would fill a container, I could get up and walk around, and my change in perspective wouldn't shift the holograms around because the room was "full" of it. It had all these assorted intermovable compartments and components. It was all quite fascinating.

Wow sounds amazing.
Maybe state of mind pre flight has some relevance to the effects.
I'm sure I can figure it out :)

I have noticed that people with more of a forward/open personality have a more creative experience.

The first time I heard about DMT was when my friend told me this:

"Right... You're unconscious for about 20 minutes, but it seems like an hour. There's me... dancing on Betty Boop's tits. All my mates are standing on her stomach watching... love it!."

Yup...
