SWIM found some >99% acetone, and wants to redissolve his dmt/jungle spice to help getting rid of xylene traces.

How fast does acetone evaporate? How much dmt/jungle spice dissolves per ml of acetone, more or less? SWIM was thinking of warming up the acetone a bit to use minimum amount, and let it evap, maybe repeat the process once or twice.

How does pure dmt crystalize in acetone, btw? hopefully it doesnt form n-oxide or something.. Jungle spice I guess it would just leave same same waxy substance, hopefully with no xylene traces.

All the alkaloids from MHRB are very highly soluble in acetone. SWM has never determined how soluble, but he says that 1ml acetone can dissolve 100mg of freebased alkaloids.

Acetone evaporates very very fast as well. Maybe a few hours or even less. Of course, this is not really good for amazing crystal formations where a slower evaporation rate has a critical role in formation of beautiful crystals.

excellent, thanks for the quick answer

SWIM was just curious about the crystals, but it doesnt matter much.. Growing nice crystals is a nice hobby and practice that SWIM likes to do once in a while but not of much use in the end, so he's happy if he at least has some pure product :)

What a coincidence! I just performed a little experiment this past weekend involving this very application. 8)

Using 1g x 2 of solid jungle wax (placed in seperate beakers), I added 150mL of HOT xylene to one, stirring until completely dissolved, and 30mL room-temp. acetone to the other (which finally dissolved completely after much stirring & small amounts of heat). Both solutions were then filtered through a material equivalent to that of 10 coffee filters, into flat glass dishes. The xylene solution held the same (or very close to) tint of yellow as it had held before filtration. The acetone solution, however, came through quite a bit clearer. Both were evap.ed in an open-air environment w/ much circulation. After a mere couple of hours the acetone solution had completely dried, leaving pancake-style crystal formations which were scraped into a whiter, more crystalline pile of jungle wax. Approx. 36 hours after the commencement of this experiment, the xylene dish had completely evap.ed, leaving pancake-crystals almost exactly equal (color & consistency) to those from whence it came (which was quite close to the expected result for this solution).
