DMT microscopy

Migrated topic.
Amazing pictures Fink! I also love that one of mullein changa.

Taking these pictures was like a DMT trip. I feel like I just saw an aurora.

These were taken with a C-mount microscope camera, mounted on an inverted reflective light microscope. Amscope ME1400T & AF408N.

I was switching between plane polarized and cross polarized, didn't keep track, but there wasn't much difference aesthetically. I haven't figured out how to calculate the magnification of the image through the camera yet. If you're new to microscopy and maybe curious about what you're seeing, I recommend this video that I'm learning from as well.

These slides were prepared by crushing a freebase DMT 'diamond' and melting it on a slide. I prepped four and each one has different characteristics. I think there's a lot to be learned from micro analyzing DMT's crystal habits.

I'm not a mineralogist so I was simply enthralled by what I was seeing during my exploration. Then I watched a slide crystalize live through the microscope and wow, that really is something to see. I took some video that I will post too, maybe someone with more knowledge can explain what we're seeing. But for now, let your imagination wander.

Woah! Those are just so beautiful. The patterns remind me of a trip. I love this, thank you for posting

Right?!

If you want to try it, you could modify your compound microscope. Just need a polarizing filter between the light source and the sample, and another between the sample and objective. You can recycle film from 3d glasses, or buy a sheet to cut up.
