Is there a way to embed videos? Thanks!

I was not able to figure out how to do this. As a work around I converted the video to a .gif and added that to the wiki. Sound is gone and resultion had to be lowered, but looks OK.

See Vid. 1 at CIELO - DMT-Nexus Wiki
The gif looks like a nice solution, I think it may be optimal since it reduces data load. How would sound benefit us here anyhow?

I've not tried uploading embedded motion picture to the wiki but could perhaps also document your failed attempts in some way since this is also valuabl information?

In this case the sound of the stirrer gives a better idea if the speed I think.

I tried to use [media] tag and .ogg files and some other wikitext I dont recall very well. Did not document my fails well.

Wiki is currently "experiencing technical difficulties" and thus appears unavailable.
Well, that was an interesting deep dive. 😁

The whole network chain for the wiki got heavily overloaded over time, which might be due to the steep increase of A.I. scrapers coded and used by amateurs.

Anyway, I think I got this highly optimized now, which not only means the Wiki works again, it also performs much better now and is using less resources than before.

And for an interesting sidenote: we might hit the 50 million views for the wiki soon (currently at 49.533.199)!

Kind regards,

The Traveler

I found this surprisingly fascinating and would love to know more!
robots.txt?

We need to keep an eye on this for a little celebration when it happens - even if it's a bot

It is working much better (thank you), but I still can't add external links to the Wiki. I get stuck at the prompt asking for what DMT stands for.

Is there a way to embed .html in the Wiki?

Wanting to add a pull calculator and other bells and whistles to the CIELO TEK. Thanks!
We can create our own add-ons, this might be a nice case to create another one.

With the previous one being the tags to PW.

Kind regards,

The Traveler

Could we enable raw html in our MediaWiki?

It can be dangerous because of malicious code from a bad guy (sorry!), but the functionality would be nice for a live TEK punch list with pull timers for example.

Maybe only being able to save raw html with a secret password as we do for saving internet links?

I understand if the risk is not worth it, but want to ask 🤞🏻

Hey, I’ve just signed up and wanted to introduce myself right away. :) I built this, and I’m continuing to improve it, with help from loveall.

The interactive checklist I created requires HTML and JavaScript to work properly. Server-side support does not matter too much, as long as we can somehow deliver HTML to the client. The JavaScript is embedded directly in the HTML, so it is really just a single file.

I can look into possible ways to set this up within MediaWiki - from my initial research, using a special page might be a viable option. You mentioned an addon. I am not very experienced with MediaWiki, but I can experiment a bit.

From your side, can you think of any other way to serve a single HTML file and make it publicly accessible?

I have tried it out. I have set up the same version of wikimedia that you are also running locally (1.22.1) and tried it out. It is possible to run as a Special Page and it is still interactive! (See Screenshot)

However we could run into problems with your dark theme. But maybe we can do a quick proof of concept if the Extension is running at all - then I can adjust the layout that it fits and make further modifications like the calculator I am currently exploring with loveall.

I will send it to you as an attachment.

Maybe it needs a couple of iterations, but I think we can make this work. What do you think, traveler?
