ok here is what i did

about 2 liters of water with 300g lye
250g MHRB
then i added 300ml naptha, i really shook it and stired it in which i now know i shouldnt do, i added some salt, some more lye and gave it a heat bath then laft it overnight and it seperated.
then i sucked up the naptha and put it in a porcelain baking dish and put it in the freezer,i didnt have a lid so i put another porcelain dish on top of it
about 12hours later i take a peek and see this

there are a few white bumps floating around but otherwise its just waxy oily residue stuff

does anyone know what this is and if i can save it?

Looks like you have sucked up some of the Mimosa soup. I would let it get back to room temperature to redissolve any crystals, then pour into a long tall container and siphon the naptha off, making sure not to get any of the brown stuff. Then put the naptha back in the freezer and you should end up with some nice white/yellow crystals.

i know it looks like the brown sludge but i dont think it is, when i was pulling the naptha out it was all dark yellow in the dish and i was really carefull not to get any sludge.

This looks a lot like the plant oils SWIM once pulled from an Acacia extraction before the technique was perfected. However I was always under the impression that MHRB didn't have too much of that stuff in it. If it is, redissolving in warm solvent and filtering it through 2 coffee filters, followed by a 36 hour freeze precipitation should do the trick. It worked for me.

Also, next time try doing a series of smaller naphtha pulls instead of one large 300mL pull. This will allow you to try different temperatures and freeze them separately so you minimize the amount of gunk obtained if something goes wrong.

If you're sure it isn't the Mimosa soup then I prescribe at least 1 recrystalisation on that there Spice. It is possible that you sucked up some bark particles that remained suspended in the naptha after vigorous shaking. My precipitate is never that brown after pulling with naptha.

Once you have gathered all your precipitate from the tray, just redissolve it in a minimal amount of some fresh, warm naptha. All the clean spice will redissolve, leaving a goo at the bottom of the container (I use a shot glass). Decant the naptha off and either freeze precipitate it or evaporate it, leaving what should be fairly pure Spice. If you are still unhappy, do it again

Yeah it a miracle alright! I could splash my faeces up against some poster board and somebody somewhere would somehow see something earth shattering in the resulting image such as the virgin Mary or the like.

Seriously though it looks like there is basified mimosa in there. That is the only time I have seen any dark red like that in non polar solvent. Perhaps it is some emulsified material from the basified solution. I have the best luck breaking emulsions with gentle heat. If that does not work a little action in a centrifuge will pull the water to the bottom leaving solvent on top if it is naptha.

i poured of the naptha leaving the brown sluge and some white powder, then i put it all in a small wine glass and put some naptha heated by heat bath in it, the brown sunk to the bottom and left me with some pissy naptha, i put it in a glass dish and its in the freezer now, i'll update in a bit
