Just wondered if DMT itself has any therapeutic value or is it purely a recreational compound? (Won't use the "D" word because it is naturally occuring in the pineal gland).

Does DMT have to be combined with MAOI's to obtain healing effects?

Thanks in advance

Bod

I would never consider it a recreational drug in any sense.
Its a very serious thing that has incredible potencial when used properly.

yes I believe with an MAOI it has more therapeutic value but much trickier to deal with in less than absolute optimal circumstances.

Therapeutic (particularly in my case) is having a positive effect my psyche.
Having said that, I have a problem with Candida Overgrowth which definitely has implications on the whole body including the mind.
It is said that that 70% (approx.) have a Candida problem (Ignore this it your peril!)

We eat too much junk food, drink too much beer etc. and don't ingest enough healthy stuff that contain vitamins, enzymes etc.

We have all got to watch what we ingest (there can be no doubt)

Candida may be responsible for MANY of our health problems! (period)

I don't want to digress too much from this topic though and would like to hear your un-biased opinions.

dmt doesnt cure candida overgrowth

it can be therapeutic
and it can also be the complete opposite of therapeutic

So Candida is resposible for a lot of our health problems?!?! I knew those canadians where doing something sneaky up there. 8)

actaully I suffered from candida for 2 years very badly, to the point where i could not work or go to school anymore..sorry to say, you are the only one who can cure yourself, through diet..there is no magic pill for systemic candidiasis..I can also nearly assure you you have food allergies as well if you actaully have systemic candidiasis..a rediculousily restricted diet and weekly ayahuasca sessions, along with other herbs to kill yeast(which ayahuasca is), pro biotics and detox herbs(which ayahuasca is) was what I did..after talking to many many doctors that is, most of them useless.

DMT migh not cure candida..but i KNOW for a fact that ayahuasca is an amazing ally ALONGSIDE a candida die off diet.

If you want more info on beating candida PM me..this yeast seriousily messed my life up.

More opinions much appreciated.

Ignore the underlying Candida theme though if you prefer.
I guess at present the opion may be about 50/50 (inconclusive)

I think this is the single most important question about DMT if we ever want to see its legal status changed. Unless of course people wake up to the ideas of individual freedom but that's doubtful.

Proving cannabis was therapeutic changed everything with regard to its legal status. Its still changing for the better.

DMT / ayahuasca might be useful for assisting in the treatment drug addiction. Understanding how dmt works in the human body could lead to new drug targets for other mental illness's. Although that doesn't imply dmt itself would be therapeutic but that it would lead to the discovery of newer better drugs.

If you want to see dmt's legal status changed you must prove it has usefulness either therapeutically or to find new ideas for treatments.

This is happening slowly again with other psychedelics. Its great and its the way forward.

I don't think DMT is very therapeutic if someone is using recreationaly. You won't get a very deep message. But, if you are trying to look at the universe differently and you want to expand your mind, this can do that. I find it very therapeutic to have breakthroughs of thought whilst on this chemical. It humbles me and really helps me in any occasional depressing time.

I think it is. Its hard to explain how though. It surprises me every time. I always go in a little nervous thinking "Oh shit here we go!" But I always seem to get just what I needed even if I had no idea I needed that. I feel great afterward, excited, energetic and healthy feeling. A weight has been lifted, my bio-computer has been rebooted.

I don't know, I haven't done it more than once or twice a month yet. I'm sure it can be bad too but so far its been great! A bit scary and insane at times (maybe every time?) but GREAT!!

I have a similar experience to MySmelf - there is an afterglow that can sometimes last for a few days, and never any hangover afterwards. These days I don't (intentionally) take any substances that will cause any kind of hangover or comedown cos I've got to much to be getting on with to spend a morning feeling rubbish ;)

I've also had experiences where The Spice seems to go into one of my organs (on one occasion it was my thyroid gland and the other was my heart) and make it's adjustments  A friend also had his neck realigned (he had ongoing neck problems) on a Spice journey.

Having said that, for me personally, a journey into the Realms on pure Spice can be so fast and disorientating ("wtf just happened??!" ) that it's hard to know what to make of it.

Ayahuasca is most definitely a healer on many levels and IMO easier to work with than the short sharp shock treatment, but they can both have great theraputic value...depending on what you do with 'em :)

Yes indeed, Ayahuasca helped many people solve their inner problems, some for good.

But smoked DMT, as i assume you are aiming at, i don't really think it has any long lasting effects, i'm sorry if i'm offending anyone here, i really don't mean to, but it's just how i feel about it.

I've read reports that claimed it could cure depression, but in no way i feel that this is true.

It can have a powerfull uplifting effect on my mood, but that lasts for maximum two days, so i guess it has temporary therapeutic value, it can humble you down a LOT, but it fades away after some time again, it does not last.

Ayahuasca is a different story, i don't have experience with Ayahuasca so i can't say much about it, except from stories i've heard and red, i can't try it yet cause i'm still on SSRI's, but i hope to contribute in a ceremony soon.

This is my idea, maybe others will have a different opinion, we aren't all the same, thank God. :)
