SWIM had always traveled in the evenings until a recent voyage detailed here: Metatron and the folding ceiling - First steps in Hyperspace - Welcome to the DMT-Nexus SWIM has not traveled in the morning since due only to logistics.

SWIM woke up and took a moment silence then subligual THH and vaped spice (very usual dosage for SWIM). Now the physical location and setting was very different. But SWIM was struck how smooth moving and complete his encounter was. He would expect setting to effect content and emotional tone ... but quality of the OVEs?

Serotonin levels are supposed to rise in the morning while melatonin goes down part of the circadian rhythm. SWIM wonders if this could account for noticeable improvement in OEV quality.

In short, does time of day matter much?

I find mornings to be superior to evenings. Not to say evenings are a bad time to launch, of course.

It seems launching later in the day can cause the events of that day to enter the mind more freely. Mornings are a clean slate....an active but calm mind.
Meditation is easier earlier in the day....I think that tranquility applies to voyaging too.

As for CEV's and OEV's, light obviously plays a huge role. Plants usually prefer morning sun as well....it's a magical time.

The morning, which is the most memorable season of the day, is the awakening hour. Then there is least somnolence in us; and for an hour, at least, some part of us awakes which slumbers for the rest of the day.

This sounds like something fun to play around with. SWIM will ask the spice it's feelings on working in the morning, and if it's cool she will try it and report back.

Edit: In the past, before she learned to listen to the call of the spice, she tried blasting off every morning for about a week, larger than normal doses, without any ability to breakthrough. Sometimes she felt nauseous, which typically never happens. This was when she still used straight freebase, so changa will probably change things.

Two excellent points. Yes, excellent soft morning light was pouring in the window... don't know why this did not occur to SWIM!

Still wondering if there is any theoretical basis for chemical interplay between Serotonin and THH or Spice.

Actually, their was a dark black patterned boarder around the top of the wall. SWIM was lying on his back in bed. The ceiling comprised 90% of field of view. The dark boarder contained the OEVs much like a border around a plasma screen - but much larger. Perhaps the high contrast boarder helped focus attention and draw out the dimension. Unfortunately, SWIM does not have access to this type of setting to test. His wife would not like such a border in the bedroom :(

I find changa to be far superior during the day, and Ayahuasca to be far superior at night.

There is something SO PROFOUND about feeling the warmth of the sun on the face with back to the ground and eyes to the sky when the eleventh dimension opens up... ;)

I have tried drinking Ayahuasca during the day many times, but her spirit seems not to fully "descend" as she would in the evening. Likewise, if I drink early evening, instead of my usual late night, the ceremony tends not to kick off until a certain late time at night, anyway.

Peaking around 3am feels ideal.

When I was experimenting with various levels of MAO inhibition and melatonin, even if I had taken nothing that day, with enough residual chemicals floating around my body, I lapsed into spontaneous visions and varying degrees of altered states around 3am on numerous occasions, and never at any other time.

There may be other times worth investigating, but there is definitely something going on at 3am. According to good old Rick Strassman, ;) the pineal is most active around this time.

Amen!

I'll put my hands together for that one too man.

changa during the day with natural light flooding in through your closed eyelids produces some almost transparant visions with beautiful pastel colours.. I'm fond of that one.

DMT at night in a darkened room is a plastic neon carnival, the colours are much more definite and bright.. and a lot of the time, for me at least, the visions often unfold over a deep black canvas at first.. so you see this unstoppable force comming right at you from nothing.. also fond of this.

these experiences vary from time to time ;)
