Ethyl Acetate

Jeruma bark that is soaked in ethyl acetate does not become deep red with the undesired tannin excrtacts that should complicate purification. Rather, it tinges a bit yellow, much like the xylene pulls that are a favortie amongst enthusiasts. Has anyone prepared fumaric acid saturated ethyl acetate and placed it into the receiver flask of a soxhlet apparatus? The ground bark could then be placed in the soxhlet extraction body and filled with blank ethyl acetate (no fumaric acid). As the extraction proceeds, the dropwise delivery of extracted alkaloid should cause slow precipitation of the fumarate salt. Cooling to room temperature and refridgeration should then yield the desired material in a one-pot shot with no need for A/B techniques. Just a thought. Ethyl acetate is not very toxic. it breaks down in vivo to acetic acid and ethanol. Residual solvent wouldn't be a big deal. The stuff has a powerful odor though. Of course, this sounds good, and it might not work.
