Extraction can anyone help SWIM ?? :-/

Hi everyone a couple of questions from SWIM is using marsfold tek and is wondering about the use of sodium hydroxide.

1 When the naptha is removed from top layer put in freezer to precipitate crystals. How would SWIM know that there isn’t any sodium hydroxide traces in the naptha that might end up crystalising? SWim wouldnt what to smoke that.

2 also SWIM would like to know why would you need to use ammonium hydroxide to rise crystals if the naptha evaporates off them anyway? Wouldn’t that leave traces of ammonium on them?

Lye is not soluble in naptha. If you're really worried about it look up polar wash in the wiki.

The ammonia wash is mostly outdated and has been replaced by the polar wash, but no, ammonia evaporates completely.

Gook luck, don't throw anything away, and you might want to look up the lastest version of Mars's fine tek in our A/B tek section.

If you are worried about the NaOH coming over ( small droplets in your pulls) then do a sodium carbonate wash. It is very simply. You can make sodium carbonate or buy it from a hardware store as PH up for pools.

Thankyou! Norman and DMT005 for your input. swim fillterd the naptha this morning. left with some nice clear white crystals. swim will let them dry then give them a wash. happy days
