What acid wash? Try at least to provide a few salient details.

If you're talking about an acid boil, it really doesn't matter.

Also, if you're struggling with an acid boil you'd be best off waiting until a point in life where you've gained a bit more understanding before attempting anything involving strong bases [like lye] and flammable solvents.
