Eyeballing Dose

Migrated topic.

So in the past I've eyeballed DMT doses without any ill effects, but I'm honestly a little nervous to this time around. My scale isnt picking up weights under 100mgs even though it's supposed to be able to and i cant really afford to buy another one right now. Does anyone have any tips or tricks when it comes to trying to eyeball a 25mg to 35mg dose? Or on how to get a cheap scale to pick up small weights? I really just dont want to accidentally take 100mgs+ and end up too deep. Though, if I may ask from people with experience with higher doses, what's really the big difference between say 40mgs and 100? Once you're broken through what else is there? Blacking out I guess?

Have you tried cleaning out the scale?
Yea, and I even tuned it. No dice. It just doesnt pick up anything til it's about .1mg, even though it's a hundredths scale. Once there its totally accurate but til then its .00

I then tried putting a nickle on it and seeing if itd detect it then and same problem, until it's another .1 it wont detect the difference, itll stay 5.00
I tried zeroing it out w the nickle on there and still nada.

I know one trick, it is called buy a new scale trick :)

Lol fair enough, but that wont be happening for a bit. Oh well, I'll get over the nervousness. Just gotta get back on the horse. I never used to weigh out my doses when I had a hook up on it. Idk why I'm MORE nervous now that I've made it myself lol. It's been a while too, I just gotta jump in or wait to buy a new scale...and I've never been one that could have spice sitting around and not smoke it...but I've also never had pretty much a never ending supply of it either though xD

So it only changes in increments of 0.1?

Maybe I dont understand how scales work, but that is oddly specific, could it be software related, or a unplugged pin on the display/electronics?

So would it not be easy then to put a tray that weighs >0.1 and then add your spice to get an accurate reading? Or maybe I'm not understanding what you mean.

If there are only 2 zeros after the decimal then you need a new scale.

Until you can afford a new scale, you could weight out, say, 200mg, then divide by eye into 6 (for 33mg) or 8 (for 25mg) portions. This won't be exact, but it won't be way off either, if your material has homogenous consistency.

My suspicion is that your scale doesn't register changes of less than 100mg. You can test my hypothesis by putting a sub 100mg amount, then very gently press on the scale until the display changes, and see if it does reflect your material when it settles.

I'll try both of those! Thank you that's very helpful ^.^

Are we sure this is a milligram scale, where there should be three 0s after the decimal?

One love

It's a gram scale :/ it has 2 zeros after the decimal. But if I could get it to say for example 5.03 with a nickle on it I know that's between 30 and 40mgs which is plenty accurate enough for me. Like I said I just dont want to accidently take a stupid high dose and either hurt myself or waste material on a black out.

I think I'm going to try the suggestions from Homo Typens til I can afford to get a better scale.

Hi Ashtray, there's one more thing you could do.
You could infuse some herb like mugwort with your freebase crystals, making enhanced leaf. If you do a 1:1 infusion you would need to load your smoking device with twice as much material. It will be still difficult to measure your exact dose using a .00 scale, however the chances of accidentally weighing out too much is much lower in my experience. I dealt with the same issue.

Ultimately it's best to get a .000 scale, but that you know already :).
