FASA help?

i have dmt freebase in naphtha. it's not saturated, though. and i want dmt fumarate.

i was going to do FASA, but then i saw this in the wiki:



* Naphtha, however, is reported to cause fumaric acid to precipitate out of acetone, disrupting any significant chemical reaction from occurring.


what should i do? should i just evaporate the naphtha, and then take the crystallized dmt freebase, and dissolve it in acetone, and do FASA from there? i can do this if i need to, but i want to avoid this step and go straight from freebase in naphtha to crystallized fumarate.


if it's any help, this is a link to the extraction i did. i have the naphtha solution, and have not evaporated it yet.

I personally wouldn't completely evap it. I always freeze precip. But in answer to your question, yes you gotta get it out of the naptha first.

im sorry I dont know from personal experience about salting fumarates from naphtha.. FASW would for sure work, but you would have to evap the water layer and you would have a bit of fumaric acid contamination (which isnt a problem, you can always clean it up easily). Maybe FASA or FASI would work but I really dont know... I guess I would just go FASW way.
