First attempt growing shrooms (ready growkit)

Hello everybody,

I am trying to grow some shrooms (golden teachers) for the first time, but i see something i can't compare on other pictures or find anything about on the internet. So maybe you guys can help me out. I see some cracks on the bodem of the stems on most of the shrooms? Is this normal or is something going wrong? They look like rings around the stem. They are about 3 days out of the grond now.

You can open the bag and take a good pic.. it won't harm anything, i understand being overly cautios if it's your first and it's a kit..
Though i can't see but i think i know what you are talking about and those rings are pretty normal.. take a bettee picture so you be sure

yes those ones on the right looks a bit concerning, keep an eye on them, if they don't keep growing normally like the others and they start turning dark it means they are aborting and you should pick them.. it could be an infection or just a deformation.. in a couple of days you'll be able to tell better

I will keep a close eye on them and just see how everything grows. The first flush will not be much considering there are only a few shrooms growing on the site of the box. 99% of the surface shows nothing. Hoping on a better 2e flush:? Keep u guys posted...

Yeah kits don't always work as advertised especially bcz the fruiting instructions are bad.
The closed bag limits FAE and I'm sure they say to mist the bag and not the cake directly, right? You should mist the cake surface, it looks too dry in the pic and the shrooms won't grow there, they only grew on the sides where the conditions are better.. make sure to dunk it after this flush and look up how to mist it properly

Yes, what he said. The bagkits seem like an easy alternative, but aren't really worth the expense. Try the standard PF, it's a steeper learning curve but are less expensive and you'll gain a better knowledge of the process.

As for the rings, idk, i don't have that much experience myself. If they sor abort, keep them for yourself, the little blue nubs tend to be crazy potent.

Expect mistakes.

And the mist advice above is solid. You're seeing them grow where the tub is most moist.

That was bothering me too every smartshop here give a different advice on how too grow them.

Do mist, don't mist,
Put water in the bag, don't put water in the bag
Soak a hour, soak 12 hours
Loosen grond with fork, don't touch the cake
Open bag for air, don't open bag it has a filter
Etc etc

I just put mist on the surface aswell thx again for the tip:wink:
Just orderd everything too make a incubator myself and after this box i will give the pf tek a try. If jou don't succeed try again and do it better:thumb_up:

They are still growing:grin: these pictures where just taken and the crack like rings seen smaller. Only the white fleshy fruits of the golden teachers seen more yellow then white. Si i will name them yellow golden teachers

I thing it's almost time to harvest??? The veil of 1 hat is off, and 1 veil is cracked. Is this possible they are only so small??? Hope you can see wat i meen on the picture if you compare it with yesterdays picture.

I decided to pick them as more shrooms where showing the same thing. First flush.......
54 gram. I dunked the cake and hope that the 2e flush is better than the first one. Hope to see shrooms bigger then the 5cm shrooms i got now and also not only on the side.

Congrats on the first harvest You should have waited a bit more.. you don't need to harvest all if one veil breaks, some are still very small
You don't need an incubator, room temp is good, unless you live in some place with extreme weather
How are you drying the shrooms?

I don't know of you call it an incubator (i tought do) but i meen a sterile room that i can grow them in. Then i can put a humidifier in and a fan with hepa filter voor clean air. As you mentioned a bag isn't the best way to grow them:wink: and weather here is swinging to much i think they need steady temp here its 20-30 during the day and 10-20 in The night. yes some where still very small but again. I read don't pick a few harvest all at the same time. Still learning here

First fan dry in the closet then in an airtight box with silicagel to extract de last moist out them.

Those do seem like babies... You could let them go a bit longer for sure.

What strain is that? Do you have an idea of what the mature mushroom should look like? That could be a good metric foryou...

Hey Null24,

They looked like babies to me too. But i read when the veil comes off that i should harvest! Next flush i will let them grow a bit longer.

The strain is cubensis (golden teacher) and they should gett bigger then that i got them.

After the dunk and soak for 12 hours, 2 days later i had the new flush coming up. And now 1 have some in the center too. :thumb_up:

The second flush is showing more and more shrooms:thumb_up: too bad most are on the side of the cake. I'm thinking about buying a big seethrough box and putting the cake in there so the sides can grow free without getting trapped between de cake and the box it is in now. I think it will be easier to pick them too when the time is ripe.

Or a computerfan on 1 side (letting air out) and a hepa filter on the other side (letting air in) so i can give the cake some fresh air?

So i thought don't wait go for it! Bought an airtight box, cutt 2 sides open, placed micro filters on them, cleaned everything with ipa, hygro/thermometer inside and 2 glasses distilled water and now my shrooms can grow free wherever they want:grin: problem solved!

I got humidity up too 91% and it's 25 Celsius inside now let's hope they grow bigger then the first flush
