First extracting

Hi,
I just did my first extract w Cyb's Max Ion tek, an I'm happy to say I got a 2% yield of mostly-white fluff. I had never seen DMT of this quality and I hought I'd yielded something else, maybe lye crystals.
I found someone willing to try it, and try he did, and the results were amazing. I have since acquired some professional lab equipment and hope my next attempt can be even better.
I'm still stuck in the newbie area and looking forward to being able to post within the regular areas :lol:

I'm glad you had a successful extraction. With that being said, if you have an end product that you think may actually be lye there are certainly better ways to test it that giving it to a random guinea pig. If you won't take it yourself you shouldn't give it to other people...

agreed! glad it worked out so well for you tho! :thumb_up: i highly doubt it would be lye in there, its not soluble in naphtha...

My guinea pig was an experienced user and we did determine the safety of the product before he tried it.

How did you do that? Lol

And even if lye was in the final product, you can't smoke it. So its really not aall that bad. People worry about lye contamination when they have some of their basic mixture floating in the naptha. If you give the naptha enough time to settle(20mins) in a seperate vessel then decant the naptha one more time then you won't ever have to worry about lye contam.

You might not be able to smoke it but from what I've read the some small lye crystals can be caught in the smoke and go into your lungs while inhaling, I don't know about you but I wouldn't want lye crystals in my lungs.

I am aware now that I did everything right and the unlikelihood of lye contamination.
It was just a little newbie anxiety.

While the thread is fresh, I'd like to pose a question about reaction time, now that I have some new gear:
The step where the MHRB + vinegar mixture is warmed for 8 hours, would it benefit me to use an electric stirrer? The tek doesn't specify to do any stirring at this point but I wonder if I could speed it up this way.

Same question for the above mixture after lye is added. The solution is warmed for two hours with occasional stirring, and I would like to use the electric stirrer for this step as well, but would appreciate insight as to how long to run this reaction.

The acid soak is to ensure full cell lysis and conversion of the molecule into salt form.
The lye soak is to add to the cell breakdown and conversion of the molecule to freebase form.

Not sure if stirring will speed up any reaction but it certainly can't hurt anything.
(Although if you only have minimal acidic solution with your bark you might find it too 'sludgy' to stir.)
If your stirrer has a warming plate then that's a plus...might as well go for it.
