So, after many failed attempts, and much frustration and questions (thanks to all who have helped along the way) I finally have a successful extraction. So much more to learn and left with more questions than answers but for now I'm feeling a big sense achievement. Attached a couple of photos, thanks again to everyone who took the time to reply to some of my seemingly inane questions and provide invaluable advice, I really am grateful.

At the point of drying the crystals turned from fluffy white to minuscule and could hardly scrape off (turned oily)
Honestly I am so happy that I managed to get freebase and it didn't melt into nothing like the last few times. It goes without saying that I have SO much more to learn and refine, any feedback that people have I am eager to hear and take on board.
