SWIM followed normans STB tek.

1. 850ml tap water + 60g lye in 1L milk jug
2. add MHRB to ^ and shake for 5-10 minutes vigorously, leave for 24+ hours, shaking for 5-10 minutes throughout the 24 hours a couple times.
3. transferred the solution into 2 separate jars (after learning HDPE isn't safe with naptha) since SWIM didn't have a jar big enough for all of it
4. SWIM heated 140ml naptha in hot water bath and poured 70ml into each jar, swirled around the jar to mix the naptha with solution for 5-10 minutes then allowed the layers to separate and repeated this 3 more times.
5. after 4th separation, SWIM used an eyedropper to take out top layer of naptha, combined both pulls from the 2 jars and placed in a container with sealed lid.
6. SWIM placed in a very cold freezer for 24+ hours, after the crystals had precipitated SWIM poured the naptha through a coffee filter (crystals in filter after drying), saved the naptha for second pulls, and placed the container upside down in freezer with lid on for 30+ minutes
7. SWIM took out the container and place beside window with a lid covering 3/4 of container to allow remaining naptha to evaporate.

SWIM noticed the white crystals he had would turn yellow as he scraped them off the container. What's the reason for this.. is it safe?

Unless you've thrown in an A/B cleanup step you're bound to scrape up some oils or have product containing more plant oils. The only other real reason is probably oxidation. What you have there looks perfectly fine. If you are worried about contaminants then re-x what you have in fresh naphtha to be sure.

Looks good though!

Looks perfectly okay to go as it is but as was said already, you could re-x it to clean it up a bit if you don't like the yellow tinge.

I wouldn't pour your naphtha through a coffee filter though, you tend to lose crystals in the filter that way. It can be difficult to get the floaters sometimes but if you pour your solvent out slowly enough most of the crystals will stay in the dish. And you reuse the naphtha for later pulls so you're not really wasting product.

Pouring off the solvent and putting it back in the freezer upside is a great way to get most of the solvent off before it can dissolve any crystals at room temp. I do the same with mine

That's a fine first extraction

The white crystals are resting upon a very thin layer of yellow goo. This goo is perfectly fine for use and is very psychoactive. You're just scraping it up without noticing it, until it mixes with your crystals and turns them yellow.

What I like to do is hold the dish up at like a 45 degree angle, and 'knock' the crystals off into a pile down below. Then I'll scoop the crystals off very gently, trying not to really make contact with the bottom of the dish - stash these, and then scrape up the rest of the crystals and goo for a separate stash. I've done it both ways though, sometimes I think there's no difference.

2. add MHRB to ^ and shake for 5-10 minutes vigorously, leave for 24+ hours, shaking for 5-10 minutes throughout the 24 hours a couple times.

I always see people doing this but in my experience it's been a completely negligible step. 1 hour, instead of 24 hours, is all I use, and it seems to work just the same.

Good job

thank you all for the feedback, SWIM will be testing the product soon :)

Very good looking product for a first time extraction! Especially considering you didn't re-x.

If you wanted to have beautiful white crystals, I've had a lot of luck with a mini A/B done on the final product. I typically lose very little yield. You certainly don't have to do this however, as the goo will work just fine. The only reason I run an mini A/B is because it's easier to dose the pure crystals.

Nice job. Your crystals are turning yellow when scraping them up because they are not free from yellow jungle material.
To get rid of the yellow drop all your extracted material into warm Naptha 20ml for each gram.
Mix/stir leave at room temp for a few mins until the yellow bits sink to the bottom of the beaker.
then pour the liquid into your baking tray leaving the yellow slag behind on the bottom.
Freeze it up and you will form white clean crystals.
Save the slag, collect it up and one day add warm solvent to get more spice out of it.

Recently I extracted from my slag collection and got 4 grams of white crystals.
Hope this helps

Cool beans man! I remember talking to you last week about this. Nice to see the results of your efforts. Looks like you did good.. welcome to the club my friend! Good job!
