First Time Recrystallizing - 3-4 Grams of Yellow & Orange DMT

Mckenna says he used to smoke orange dmt.

Might want to put a bit aside and try it (like SWIM did this afternoon before he re-xd. boy was he glad he saved a bit ^.^)

Here’s an even better way to clean up really dirty spice:

---- Put impure DMT into a jar used for extraction.

---- Add enough vinegar to dissolve all DMT.

---- Add water to increase volume (many impurities will stay in the water).

---- Prepare a small amount of NaOH solution.

---- Add NaOH solution to DMT solution – DMT will immediately precipitate.

---- Extract freebase in the usual manner.

I think I will try your method for recrystallization next. I had two questions:

How much water do you add to the vinegar/dirty spice solution? For example 1/2 the same or 2X the amount of vinegar.
What is in the NAOH solution? Is it just water and NAOH?

criticalhalt he is just describing another acid/base extraction. Volumes are entirely up to you as long as everything is dissolved. Yes an NaOH solution is just NaOH and water. Always add the base to the water and use goggles/gloves.

For 2-3g of DMT, I’d say 50mL of vinegar should be enough to dissolve all of it. Then add about 400-500mL additional water. No need to be exact.

To prepare your NaOH solution: add about 5g of NaOH to 100mL water.

As mumbles said, this is really just an A/B extraction. I think it’s sometimes referred to as a “mini” A/B on the forum. It’s a good way to clean up very impure spice.

I have some pretty dirty stuff I've just been holding onto until I found what to do with it. The crazy part is that I don't know what I did differently from normal to mess it up in the first place. I'll read up on A/B techniques. Still slowly learning :)

As a side note, I tried the method CrushNazT recommended and at first ended up with no crystals but just sticky yellow oil (when I started the spice was brown). I blew a fan at it overnight and when I woke up there were nice (but flat) crystals. It actually turned out pretty pure.
