First time...

Hey guys, first post and hopefully first time at successfully synthesizing Spice Was wondering, using the A/B method, how long would it take to obtain some crystals? I read somewhere it can take weeks, but also other places say after 1 extraction you can obtain some, then a following few weeks later some more?

and also is it possible to synthesize it from Phalaris Arundinacea using A/B tek?

Any help appreciated!

First off, it's an extraction, not a synthesis. The plant does all of the synthesizing for you, you're just the monkey that pulls it out.
An A/B takes a day or two. The teks that take weeks are outdated and if you're looking at the one I'm thinking of, an incorrect timeline is the least of its faults.
Take a look at the Marsofold tek and its variants.
An A/B can be used for phalaris species, it just needs a lot of defatting and keep in mind that the alk content varies greatly with the bottom end being nearly zero, and that there are some alks present, like grammine, that are toxic and the subject of debate as to whether they carry over into an extraction. Your best bet for a non-gooey extraction of the grasses would probably be Coschi's acacia tek.
My best advice to you at this point would be to read all of the teks on this forum and come back with more questions before starting anything.

Ahhh thanks for correcting Ive read coschi's tek and had a look at a few others, after reading about the phalaris not turning out too well i think im just gunna buy some mimosa hostilis, if i was to buy 250g of it, how much spice in theory could i end up with? Ive read between 0.4-0.5% content? Also, will Coschi's tek work well with mimosa hostilis?

edit : will this 'white spirit' act as a good substitute for 'Naphtha' or 'Shellite'?

Hey skittzo, welcome to the nexus.

you really should go to the tek pages and read up.

But I'll spell out a bit of the very important stuff.

What you use for the extraction is the most important.

If you want nice pure spice the only 3 confirmed pure solvents are (as far as I have read)
Bestine Rubber Cement slovent
VM+P Naptha
and to a lesser extent
Ronsonol Lighter Fluid. (because it NEEDS to be heated)

white spirit will most likely dissolve the spice but will most likely leave nasties behind in it.

Just get some nice pure LYE. (might have to get it online)

and follow noman's tek (notice the user that replied first )

If you are patient and follow the tek to the T, the is no reason you can't get 0.5%-1% or maybe even more.

Hey, thanks for the reply!
Ive done a bit more reading and came across Noman's tek, i think thats probably going to be the tek i will use (thanks noman!!), as i can aquire the 'ingredients' quite easily. About the Ronsonol lighter fluid, i didn't realise it needed to be heated? Is there any chance you can enlighten me about this stage?

Some MHRB is on its way now, aswell as some caustic soda.

edit : i read this - why does the gas need to be heated? do i just heat the gas before putting it into the mixing jar?

11. Bathe the glass of Zippo Fluid in a bowl of boiling water to raise temperature without flame. (any better ideas? Also what temp is ideal?)
12. Pour warm Zippo fluid into mixing jar and repeat steps 6-12 another four times, each time heating the solvent and using a new coffee filter. Final pull will be left in freezer for 48 hours, and after filtering, will evap the remaining fluid from the jar and scrape jar clean.
