Flu like symptoms with headache and heavy chest

Swim?

Swim took a hit of NN and woke up in the middle of the night with flu like symptoms and heavy chest and headache. Swim slept all day and felt like crap. Is this serotonin syndrome or contaminated NN.
Please help.

Swim is taking 20mg of Escitalopram for depression daily. It’s happens twice now bad head ache heavy chest sweats and sore body, does this sound like SS or contaminated NN.

PercyLonging: we do not have enough information to even think about trying to draw any conclusions.

My guess is that you have an underlying problem; you were just coming down with some sickness seems most likely.

Either way, I would lay off of the dmt, and other psychedelics (or substances which you aren't familiar with and not able to predict the effect they might have on you) until you're better and have addressed and possible underlying issues.

Nothing solid, sorry. I haven't researched it thoroughly, perhaps I should have worded it differently. Never heard of a confirmed case, but did a quick search and came up with these general warnings, probably associated more with combinations with other things, but given just in case.

I've hit changa before and instantly have it knock me down with fever and flu like symptoms for a couple of days. Was a pretty rough experience. I was never able to tell what really happened, but it never happened again either. Just one of those things I guess.

No, that does not sound like serotonin syndrome. It sounds like the flu.

It's worth noting that without an immunoassay, its virtually impossible to know what happened, let alone detection of any potential antigens.

In some cases, reduction in VMAT2 inhibition can raise the risk for antigens to cross the blood brain barrier (BBB). Since DMT seems to readily uptake serotonin into the synaptic cleft, its possible that markedly expressed and selective inhibition of VMAT2 in some individuals could set off a chain reaction. In other words, unhealthy cells move in and cause damage while increased inhibition of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 is established, and can remain inhibited for weeks afterwards.

For example, people who use cocaine regularly display a marked reduction in VMAT2 immunoreactivity, while serious drug induced mood disorders display a significant loss of VMAT2 immunoreactivity. Therefore, and without much knowledge about the OP friend's drug history, some individuals may be more susceptible than others, and healthy VMAT2 monoamines could help manage the psychedelic experience.

Honesty, neither of those are at all good sources. They make empty claims and do not quote any sources themselves. Aso "structurally related" is an incredibly poor argument, soooo many molecule are structurally related and have entirely different pharmacology.

I think you should probably not look for medical advice over the internet. You might have other underlying issues, you should consult your doctor, maybe get some blood tests, see if you have some other problems going on. Mayb e taking a break from psychedelics till you feel well isn't a bad idea.

SSRIs generally make psychedelics less potent, that's the main interaction. From my understanding serotonin syndrome is a potential problem only with mixing SSRIs with ayahuasca/MAOIs (or stimulant/other medications), not with vapped DMT for example.

If you are affraid your DMT is contaminated, regardless if it is or not, you probably shouldn't be smoking it because this probably means you either don't know how it was extracted and how pure the chemicals used were, or you yourself used sketchy chems. Even if its not contaminated, just the fact you are worrying about it probably isn't good mind set to start an experience from (think nocebo, or negative placebo). Better forget that one and extract your own or at the very least purify what you have with re-A/B or at least recrystallizing it (instructions in the FAQ).
