hexane is technically the answer, however, due to the fact it will more or less destroy your brain, the general consensus is, for a pure mixture, heptane is best, its pretty much a comparable fire/fume hazard as hexane/naptha, i mean naptha more or less is just pentane, hexane and heptane + some other petroleum oils in much lesser amounts, but heptane isnt neurotoxic like hexane is. you can acquire it just as easily too since its specifically sold as a pure product by cleaning chem warehouse type stores, to replace hexane. also since heptane dissolves less DMT, its actually better, especially for small extractions where crystals are desired. and you can heat it up much higher too when pulling.
but naptha type solvents are for when you want selectivity, for full spectrum pulls, xylene is probably best + invest in a little distillation set, xylene is expensive.
ethyl acetate is, i dont wanna say toxic but, it produces intoxicating fumes, plus its not exactly a stable substance, but theres teks written up specifically for ethyl acetate.
DCM is great although open air dried dcm-pulls are guaranteed to get real wet since it gets so cold when evaporating. i once returned to a bowl of snow after putting my DCM pull in front of the fume extractor. DCM also needs to be processed quickly so, you need to be good at dealing with emulsions, because it will react with the DMT, loss of yield isnt really the concern so much as, the ominous nature of the contaminant. waiting more than a day for a pull to settle (dcm sinks not floats btw, like chloroform), may not be advisable. personally i observed a release of HCl upon heating my combined DCM pulls to force it dry, supposedly a decomposition product of the DCM-triptamine.
toluene is good, it smells like gasoline though, and its only cost effective depending on where you are in the world.
toluene though has the unfortunate issue of having a higher BP than DMT so theres no way to really boil to dryness, you have to let it evap, but, since it forms an azeotrope with water, your spice ought to be bone dry, but, this comes at the cost of, it specifically inhibits crystalization.
limonene is good if its available, its non toxic and only a little problematic to handle, but i believe DMT can crystalize from it at least.
stinks of citrus though.
toluene and DCM are hard to store, they are really good at leaking through plastic seals of any kind, no matter how tight. chloroform forms deadly decomp products if mishandled, and ethyl acetate is an ester so, strong bases, and dilution i believe split it back into ethanol and acetic acid, again though theres specific teks for using it.
most solvents stink, heptane really doesnt, i recommend just getting heptane, and try xylene if you wanna do some more exotic processing, in place of toluene.
