Rising Star
I have been a longtime follower of the nexus but am now joining. I appreciate all that I have learned regarding the intricacies of these Teks. I hope to contribute moving forward and ask for some input on my current ideas.
1) On an extraction of ACRB I used dry ice to remove NMT. I noticed this could cause the DMT to Precipitate as well as the temperatures dropped. After dissolving the DMT and decanting the naphtha off the NMT I believe this process could be used to crash the DMT inside a container, in a bath of acetone/dry ice. This would then be VacFiltered, dried and recrystallized. I have access to an abundance of lab ware so no problem with the fritted filters and pumps. The only downside would be naphtha in the crystal lattice but I am unsure to what degree would it contaminate if using another solvent for recrystallization.
2) I have experience in crystal grow and was wondering if anyone had any advice on slow crystallization techniques such as multiple solvent systems. I was interested in using acetone and water to slowly force crystallization, as acetone is the only solvent I could find to work with dmt insoluble water. Any other ideas outside evaporation and freezing are greatly appreciated. My idea is that many of the solvent systems (vapor and mixed) crystallization techniques would yield larger and less adulterated crystals.
I appreciate any information you may have and look forward to continuing my journey on the nexus.
