Forget freeze precip...evap is the bomb!

All it takes is a bit more patience...4-5 days, and you have beautiful stuff! My freeze precips were always a nightmare, trying to empty the naptha out without dissolving the spice, and then scooping it out only for it to melt in a puddle of whatever else...with the evap, I got every last molecule....yum! :d

rotary evap ftw. do a full, complete extraction in an hour or less.

Rotary evap? Nice.....Not a bad way to spend an extra 3grand. I know what i wanna get next! lol.

and IMO evap till it gets cloudy then freeze precip nice clean xstals. have had little to no luck with just evap. but to each there own i guess. I live in a humid area so it takes forever and a day.

using a fan swims only takes a couple hours,

he places glass tray in front of the widow fan blowing out and another fan blowing over the tray into the window fan. it drys super fast (using zippo fluid)

with a good sodium carb wash, spice looks good.

It sure is the way you want for a pretty crystal, When i preform a full evap it takes at least 2 weeks if not more. But maybe i used a larger glass.

But if you are using a fan it will surely speed up the process.

Doesnt it get gooey? like a layer at the bottom of the pan that looks like clear honey? Sometimes I get that with evap, but then that is with the later pulls.

Btw... When do you stop pulling? When there is no more spice? Or when it gets brown? Then do a jungle extract with lemonene or lyxene?

No swim just did an evap today and got some nice yield and quality. from what he came up with in his research is that the goo is plant fats and other impurities. to reduce this swim does a sodium carbonate wash.

this washes out A LOT of the impurities also if you spill some mhrb goo in your pull it sinks right to the bottom with the wash.

sorry used web cam but thats on white printer paper. was dry in the time it took to go run errands.

Ok thanks, I will have to try that then. Maybe thats what you get with later pulls.Maybe I will try my extraction with heptane! 2-3 pulls and I am done! With naphtha I am on my 8th pull and still spice coming..

I dont have a scale, so I dont even know how to guess. This is my first extract and I cant get any info from anyone as to when to stop pulling. So I am just pulling until there is no more spice.. Some things get answered right away and others never get answered!
I will get a scale someday. Its even hard to measure my dose to vape because there is no scale, so I am reluctant to pile too much.. I dont wanna freak out like some do and start screaming or balling my eyes out.
Thats another thing, no one will measure a dose and then show it next to a penny or nickle. Oh well...

I've never had problems with dissolving spice when doing freeze precipitation.
Also with evap I notice the color change is very noticeable, while with freeze precip it's almost always pure white. Also much less waiting. If one wants to get every last bit, I would recommend freeze precip and then evaporating the remaining naphtha, this is in the case if naphtha isn't expensive locally.

from pictures he has seen, Freezing gives off a better product right out of the gate. but when evaporated if some one where to be super clean and careful and do their washes its comes out nice.


and like stated a good re-X (with a 25% loss ) and this would probably all be glass swim thinks a good re-x.

personally, for me, it just seems like a much more natural process when evaping...and one can also be sure the majority of naptha has evaporated as well, as opposed to trying to chop it up and air it out after a freeze....BUT, freezing has always given me an awesome product as wel....so its really up to the person...I just feel everyone should try each method at least once! :d

I freeze and drip dry or pour out as much as possible and dry upright in the freezer. I get mostly floater x-tals and a bit stuck. I never scrape, spread and chop. is that a good idea?

As for the scale. I have a grams scale with a dial for food, it works fine for measuring chems and mhrb. but no spice scale yet due to "what will I tell my wife I need it for?". maybe workout powder!!! oh my I just solved it!! I will get one right away!

Another vote for evaporation. I've just done the first pull of my latest extraction. 160g bark and 80ml of Ronsonol. Recovered 65ml using a turkey baster and this evaporated in a 12inch by 6 inch dish overnight. I got this one a lot cleaner than previous extraction attempts by being a bit more careful with the baster and a bit of decanting before I put the naptha in the evaporation dish. In any case I love the magic of re-x and watching those crystals grow. Have only freeze precipitated once though. Seemed a bit more fiddly but gave a great product. I am extremely time poor so evaporation works for me - evap and scrape. I won't have the room to evap large amounts of naptha soon though so might have to revisit freeze precip.

Basters aren’t exactly the best way to move liquids accurately. Invest in a glass syringe, they work a lot better and with a needle on the end you can be very accurate.

I generally find that I do not encounter floaters very often. I simply pour off 95% plus of the solvent and then invert the container onto a plate and leave it to get to room temperature. Once at room temp I put the container at a slight angle on the plate to get last little bits ot and finally I put it back up the right way up and blow a fan over it.

Evaporation (on the initial product) will leave no end of gunk in your product. One of the advantages of freeze precipation is that most gunk is left in the solvent. Freeze precipation also helps in the preservation of resources, and avoids you pumping hydrocarbons into the air needlessly.

I can’t see any good reason to work via evaporation for getting initial product unless you are living somewhere very hot. If at all possible save it for when you have nice clean product and want to make nice pretty xtals.

As a side thought – maybe the reason you are encountering issues is because there is not much product in your solvent. A short evaporation to get it more saturated and then a freeze precipation may be a happy medium maybe?

As a second side thought! – the container you are freeze precipating may have something to do with the way it is forming when it drops out. Personally I use small jars (100–500mL capacity) with a rubber seal and a metal clip, these seem to work very well for me at least.

The reason for that is that the density of your material can vary greatly. A factor of 3 is not uncommon. I am not going to take that risk right here right now and make a picture like you want. Besides that, the quality and thus effect of your spice can also vary greatly by a factor of 10 maximum. Combine the two (30!) and I can understand how one should be concerned about dosage.

However, many people agree that a lungful of smoke cannot be so much that you go psychotic on it. DMT is not like an RC: they can have an extremely steep dose/response curve. But it can be too much for a first-timer, I suppose.
If you're concerned about your health, pick the smallest crystal you have (but no smaller than 1 cubic millimeter) and smoke it. Work your way up from there. If you have half a teaspoon to work with, that should give you ample room for experimenting with your sweet-spot. Oh: and try to have a sober someone with you is always a good idea with any drug. Just try and pick one who won't laugh like a hyena when you start to look weird. :lol:

PS: if you feel your intentions are cornered by a)your wife, b)the man, and c)your social circle, then maybe, just maybe you should postpone your explorations into hyperspace until you reach a point in your life where it is more relaxed and easy for you to do DMT. Having high levels of stress-hormones in the blood will NOT be conductive to a good experience. I did wait. For 12 years.
