Freebase PH

Hey there,

I have another question...
Does someone know what PH DMT needs to become a freebase?
Some of my DMT was very high on PH like 13 ( too high i think personally)...
So i like to know what PH is needed to make a good smokable freebase because i think how closer to the PH of our body the better it is....

Hi, a theoretical (thus estimated) calculator suggests pH 10 then 95% is FB, at 11 it's 99.5%

i think how closer to the PH of our body the better it is....

that way of thinking is a bit misguided...
the pKa of DMT is 8.68, meaning at that pH, half of the DMT will be in a free base form, and half will be a water soluble salt form.
Physiological pH is something like 7.2-7.6. To get >99.9% of a free base compound with one ionizable group, like DMT, add 2 to the pKa.
So a pH of 10.68 will theoretically give DMT a net neutral charge, a free base form.

pH of 13 is excessive, but that's not the pH of the DMT. that's the pH of the water.

Are you sure? I pulled some spice with ether from lyewater and after drying it i used some drops aceton to dissolve some spice and check the Ph on some Ph-paper and that was like arround 12 a 13....
So i really think my spice was like that Ph.

pH is a function of ion dissociation in water, typically. acetone is hygroscopic.
also, if you dried your organic, it wouldn't read as 13. pKa of DMT is 8.68. so at 10.68, >99.9% in the basic
solution (because pH is accurately measured in aqueous solutions) would be in free base form.

in organic chem, the common method in liquid-liquid extraction is to isolate the organic from the basic phase, wash the organic with 5% Sodium Carbonate sol'n, isolate the organic phase again, and pour it into a container with magnesium/sodium/calcium sulfate salts to dry it. I use Epsom salt.

Ok thnx for the information it is hard for me to understand all this information but you gave me enough chemical therms to learn about.
Also never heard of the therm hygroscopic but now i checked for it on the internet it explains why dietyl-ether made my spice so wet that it costs days to dry....:surprised
