Freeze precip with non-wide mouth jars?

All I have is normal tapered jars and have been freeze preciping in a couple of those. Now that I've got some good crystals on there, after doing the trick with putting it upside down in the freezer, and then letting it dry upside down and discarding the naptha, how do I get the crystals out?

Would my best bet be to either get a wide mouth jar, or to somehow do a re-x and put in a shot glass to dry? I do have one of those but only one.

it can be hard to get crystals to stick to the tops of jars its alot easier to scrap if you freeze it in a pyrex pan then remove as much naphtha as you can and evap

I've read that's not a good option since it can leave a bunch of naptha vapor in your freezer. Also we have a lot of frozen food in ours and no level surface large enough for a pyrex pie pan.

What if I put a small amount of naptha into my jar, swirled it around and got the crystals to come off the sides and bottom (would they even come loose?), and then emptied that into my pie pan to dry?

Also, I managed to get a couple small drops of my basified bark mixture into the bottom of the jar. Didn't seem like much at the time but now that it's dried I can tell there's quite a bit in there and was just reading about getting suspended lye in your smoke. That does not sound good. What do you think my best option for cleaning this up would be?

dmt vaporizes at a much lower temp than lye so you probably wont get any in your hit but its generally a bad thing. a recrystallization could get it out if not you could also do a sodium carbonate wash. ive never had to but its supposed to remove lye impurities. If you use naphtha to redissolve crystals in your jar heat it with a water bath first and it will hold more goodies. Fumes will contaminate food but you can find a pan with a lid an old mini fridge is also good.

You can try to scrape with some kind of razor or knife with wider end, and/or shake to brake them off, as much as you can. Whatever you cant get out, use a bit of solvent to pick up and evaporate on a pyrex or wide mouth container. If you evap that slowly, it should yield some pretty awesome looking crystals. Just make sure all solvent is evaporated before smoking

I usually freeze precip in a glass pyrex baking dish, it works much better than jars ever did. And in the Marsofold Tek I use, I found a updated "tips" section from Marsofold suggesting this very remedy instead of jars.

I pull the naptha(for first pulls, then xylene for last pulls) right into a pyrex dish, place in front of a fan, covered with plastic lid with holes punched in to evap rather slowly, then when milky I freeze precip. Then pull out of freezer, strain excess solvent, then put whole thing open in front of fan to dry, then use a credit card or razor blade to very very easily gather all the spice.

I've also been told small stainless steel bowls work very well for this as well from a foaf who used to do extracts before he got bused by the DEA. (could maybe fit where a pyrex wouldn't) Hope this helps!


EDIT: Maybe prepare and eat some of your delicious frozen delectables? or possibly move some of the big space safe to be refrigerated items to the fridge until your freeze precip is done?

I'm curious, what was it your friend was doing that brought him that kind of attention by the LEO's? Importing large amounts of root bark? Selling spice?

Literally a foaf, my buddy started to buy spice from him(so yes he was selling it), and then started up a Facebook page about the wonders of extracting DMT, and how he does it all the time and makes hella cash from selling it. Needless to say he wasn't the most intelligent of people.

The only other story I've heard of getting busted comes from a guy who was ordering MASSIVE quantities of MHRB like weekly and was a large scale drug dealer in a town near where I go to college, read about it in the papers just flabergasted at his 5 kilos a week standing order.... The source I have ships it through the border from Mexico as Sandalwood, and I use a rotation of mine and three friends addresses when ordering it just to err on the side of safety. Plus I don't need it shipped often, as it's only me and my two buddies doing the spice.

Never really enjoyed him as a person, put tolerated his idiocy because he was THE spice source for my local area (hometown population: 379) other local small towns similarly sized meant that there was little chance of finding anyone else, which I guess was a good thing as it led me to here to all of you wonderful people.

This.. And if you use iso or acetone to rinse your freeze precip jar it will give you the peace of mind that any left over naphtha (or naptha that is trapped in the crystals) will be more likely to evaporate (and not left behind).

After an iso rinse to the freeze precip jar you just leave that with the naptha and evap/freeze precip like normal after? Never done iso rinses but always been curious...would like to step up my efficiency in the Marsofold Tek I use. Sometimes those crystals get REALLY stuck to the bottom of whatever glassware I'm currently using.

I've got some 70% isopropol, would you recommend just adding some to the jar with excess spice I can't get out, and then pouring into a container to evap? Does it matter how much iso I use?

Does it matter how high of a percentage of iso, ie: higher the better? or not so much?
