Freeze Precipitation in Jar: Line bottom with filter?

So I had this idea that could potentially save a lot of grief scraping jar bottoms...
Put a filter down there that you can just lift out after sieving off the top bit.

Anyone think this will work out well?

it might work but you can just pour some IPA into the jar and swish it round until it dissolves all your Magic then simply pour it out and evap.

or even better freeze precip in a glass baking tray, it gives a very satisfying scrapping experience:love:

I agree, I used to freeze-precip in jars but since switching to the glass baking dish I'll never go back!

I feel like this idea might just leave you with a coffee filter that's just completely saturated with DMT. This would be easy to recover but it would still require more effort than using a glass baking dish, and about the same amount of effort as cleaning out your jar with IPA.

I did see someone on here line there jar with greaseproof baking paper. I thought it was a good idea at the time but have not tried it for myself. It certainly would not hold any spice like a filter paper would. As to it standing up to immersion in solvent maybe the original OP of the technique can chime in?

If i get time later i will try to find the thread.

Yea, if you do decide to try this make sure that the wax on the paper won't dissolve in your solvent first (I don't think it would, but I don't know for sure), and that the wax won't scrape up when you go to retrieve your DMT.

If neither of these things are a problem, then good luck! It definitely an interesting idea. Please share your results, I hope it works out for you!
