It's been some time since I began posting; after getting a bit discouraged in the inability to post in other sections.

I have a few things that I would like to share, but am unable to post in the correct place.
I was just curious how long this normally took to change?

I realize that posting this in this section is topic; and I am sorry if this is looked down upon, I just want to be more active in the rest of the community.

There is no predefined period to become a member or anything, when you get enough "thumbs up" from existing members and become a member.

I think the answer to your main question lies within your post: stop looking for "correct" place aaaand just post more

Whatever posts you want to make in other forum areas, just post them to the welcome discussion section. If you want to reference a specific thread in another area, just title your welcome discussion thread "Re: Thread Title". We can always move posts to other sections upon promotion.

It's that old catch-22. If you don't participate because you can't access the full forum, you'll never get full forum access because you didn't participate.

PS - Congrats on your promotion to full membership. (For the record, it was by community votes and not by mod intervention)
