Fumerate to Freebase without Acetone?

Is there any known way of rendering freebase from fumerate without using any of the 3 methods described in amor_fati's approach? My friend, who's trying to make a vaporizable product, doesn't have access to acetone or heptane, and is turned off by the nontoxic sodium carbonate method by the statement:

Though completely nontoxic, this method is reportedly difficult for achieving a dry product, as moisture can be difficult to remove.

so he's wondering if there's another way to do it.

My friend would also like to know, for the nontoxic approach, would "filter[ing] the solution through a coffee filter" really work well? That is, once filtered through the coffee filter, the crystals should be on top, and the Na2CO3 will be gone? And... if my friend intends to vaporize the crystals, does them being wet really matter?

disolve fumerate in a small amount of water then add a base, then pull with appropriate solvent. You may want to dru it first. You could even just leave the water to evaporate then smoke... but it won't win a beauty pageant. IPA, Naphtha, Acetone, MEK, DCM... Just pick something your base is not soluble in but DMT is then evaporate it.

If a solvent is necessary, then technically, filtration of a solution containing the dmt crystals, sodium carbonate, and water wouldn't work as described here?

i thought that document was flawed as nobody could re-create those results ? should it still be up on the wiki ?
