General doubts about extraction

Hi mates, here I am again, with philosophical and totally hypothetical doubts and answers.
Because I think that if someone, who of course is not me, would like to extract his own DMT if in his country it was legal, and because he doesn't want to buy drugs etc, he needs to know well some things, and often it's not simple to understand all.
Starting from the basics:
is it the same thing if someone tries to extract DMT from a source (es. M. hostilis root bark) or another (es. P. viridis dry leaves)? the process is the same? (I mean, a tek good for one plant is good for all?)
from which amount is better to start to have a decent result, or at least, to EXPECT a decent result?

Yeah sort of. What can happen is that some plant material might have more fats and impurities than others, but that can always be cleaned up later on with a re-x or re-a/b if its not as clean as you want. Also experimenting with FASA/FASI salting is a good way to bypass plant impurities and crash out the alkaloids, check out BLAB and other such info in the wiki and forum.

As for which amount, if youre extracting from DMT, I think 75-100g is a good amount to extract for first times.. for other plant sources will depend how potent they are. Just consider that you should extract around at least 10-20 doses otherwise it might not be worth it.

As for expecting decent result, if the plant material has alkaloids and you do the extraction properly, youll get all/most of what is there. If plant material is bad, you cant expect good result and doesnt matter what you do it will still be bad. If you do bad technique, it depends how bad you do.

I understood half of the things you said but it's normal The fact is that I don't own any source, so I didn't deepen some more tecnical feature ( like the re-x or the fasa/fasi). So the only difference is the amount of DMT into the material and the impurities. The Psycotria viridis leaves are less potent than the MHRB, right?

Yes, but if you get hawaiian Psychotria viridis, I hear they are very potent.

Re-x is a recrystallization (you can read about it in the FAQ). FASA/FASI is a method to precipitate the alkaloids out of the solvent in their salt form (as fumarates), which can be used for storage or oral consumption, or re-converted back to freebase. Dont worry it might seem daunting at first but it will all become second-nature soon enough...

I found some P. viridis but it's brazilian, maybe it's better to search some MHRB..

For a first extraction, I think you should definitely go with MHRB.
