just a quick hello and hope for a few votes so I can post elsewhere:)

I haven't yet had the experience to try these substances , but i am hoping these forums and experienced members can help me to understand what the experience is and to help me explore the ideas and thoughts that come from those who have. I am considering travel from New Zealand where aya is not legal .. to south America where it is to seek the experience directly .. but id love to be as fully educated as possible firstly .. not too many folks in my local area to talk deeply and meaningfully about it , thus i am seeking out this community of travelers both for support and to mix thoughts with :)

Hello. Welcome. It is a very rewarding experience to be able to learn how to self administer Ayahuasca, if it is done with intelligence and respect. And the nexus is probably the best place on the internet to learn how to do it safely and discreetly! 😉

Welcome to the Nexus!

I think you couldn't have come to a better place to get informed on this and get level-headed community support :)

Be sure to check out the FAQ and health and safety sections and dig around the forums a bit, there's plenty of useful information around... And feel free to ask anything you can't find answers to or would like to further discuss with people.

Out of curiosity, how's the whole 'legal highs/new psychoactive substances' law situation now in NZ?

Be well!

thanks for the greetz !
endlessness, The laws down here have been interesting over the past few years .. when i first came over form the usa i was so happy that there was a shop where i could buy salvia divinorum 50x extract :) .. but the prevalent " legal highs" were mostly bzp and other nasty stuff which at best gave you a caffeine overdose and a massive bad hangover headache yucky feeling for the next day or 2 ...

we have had one mp in particular a few years back go quite keen on banning most things ... she ended up being fired after submitting a request to the health minister to ban water ( She fell into a long standing hoax to catch out people who make laws regarding substances they know nothing about )

I am also saddened by recent Prosecution of a young man in his early 20's ... he attempted to import 18kgs of MHRB .. He was charged with importation of 18kgs of pure DMT .. since the law is structured so that if an organism contains a banned substance then the charge will be for the total weight of materials , regardless of concentration.

Following this logic I think Avacodo and cirtus fruit growers should be concerned :) story here

We are the only country allowing iboga as an unclassified prescription drug too , and a very good study going on on our south island .. This also opened the door for a little less clinical situation in the far north , which unfortunately had a death of one of the patients there , which could be used by media to "prove the dangers"...

We are allowed to grown San Pedro and Peruvian torch as ornamental plants : , along with Saliva as a houseplant , so some things are nice :)

What is the most difficult for SWIM is finding source material for any potential extraction .. Since we are an island nation we have probably the most strict bio-security , so plant materials of any kind are extremely hard to get brought in .. and I personally haven't heard of any reliable source of information about any plants that grow here locally .. there are rumors about grasses ( also rumors that they contain poisons and other undesirable alkaloids ) . So the trouble SWIM is having is that even if someone pointed him to the exact species he would need to find , his confidence in his own identification skills is low , and the risks that come along with getting it wrong are many .

Another issue for SWIM is here in NZ there seems to be a lot of people making "P" (the local nasty version of speed) , or at least a lot of police concern about it any way ... things like LYE , HCL , sepratory funnels and glass tobacco pipes are very hard to come by and buying many of the required items will get you onto a watch-list pretty quick from my understanding ..

SWIM recently attended the Entheogenesis Australis - EGA 10 year anniversary in Melbourne Australia ... Many Many great minds there .. and interesting things happening in the legal space .. NZ tends to have similar legal moments to OZ in many spaces so watching that space closely ..

Hi There, I'm assuming you live in the north island? There are a few Acadia's around that contain Dmt. Once you learn to identify them you realize that they are quite common here.

hi ewok , yes , to answer your question , north island big metro city ... Would Really love to know the names and possibly some pictures of what is here locally ... if there were a specific example you could think of within driving distance I'd be happy to drive out and have a look to increase my botanical knowledge base .. I cant yet send Pms but feel free to pm me anytime at all ,as it is good to know you :)

Hey there,

I am another Kiwi who is very interested in Acacias found in the North Island. I currently have three baby Floribundas but am yet to find or hear of anyone in this country successfully using this plant or any plant for that matter for an extraction.

Ewok: Do you have any pics or names of what plants you have used in the North Island?

Obsidianjaguar: Have a look on the maf biosecurity index for seeds. Seeds of A.Acuminata etc are totally fine to bring into the country. Beautiful wattles!

Thanks!!!

SWIM recently had the opportunity to attempt extraction on about 1kg of bark and 1kg of phyllodes from a floribunda that had been felled by city counsel . Swim had zero yield from each batch .

From my understanding it is highly dependent upon each individual specimen , with some strains ( particularly , the ones from the garden shops) having no active components at all .. So its a bit of a lotto win if you manage to get anything usable out of these plants ... I would definitely be happy to get updates on these seeds :)

Well that is a shame about the Floribunda. Good thing they make beautiful plants regardless of the content!

Do let me know if you have any luck with spice here in NZ!

Fair enough Ewok :)

Would you be kind enough to share the names of what Acacias have actually been proven to contain alkaloids in the North Island?

I know there are Floribunda and Maidenii growing around the place but have not heard of a single successful extraction (In NZ...)

Out of interest, what plants seem to grow well in the South Island that contain tryptamines?

I haven't heard of a single successful extraction using locally sourced materials either , and with Biosecurity so tight I don't really know of anybody getting any of our favorite "food dyes" in without a huge degree of risk either ..

Neither! Not one that I have heard of. I have heard of people thinking they are 'close' to success and one person claiming success with A.Longfolia! But that persons writing was barely legible and I had no idea what to make of it.

Seed to harvest is going to be the way forward! A.Acuminata seeds are 100% A ok to bring in according to the maf.

This may be a starting place for you guys.

Acacia Mearnsii is another but was told results varied alot. Think another was longifolia but need to confirm both were from Auckland area.

So glad I was lucky enough to acquire MHRB before the crackdown on it.

Have been told there is Acadia confusa in NZ as well and overseas people get good results with it.

Lucky you!

Thanks for the information...

There are just soooo many Acacia trees around where I live. I better stand learning to identify them while I wait for A.Acuminata to grow!
