Ground MHRB example?

Migrated topic.

Could someone advise on whether this MHRB is adequately ground.

as can be seen in the picture, there are still long shreds of fibrous material, but I am thinking it will be practically impossible to grind all of these down.

I am using just a cheapo plastic coffee grinder.

Thanks.

It seems good enough for extracting.. If you want to make sure, do one more run with what you have in smaller portions in the grinder and then go for it :)

Danke Schön!

I shall give the MHRB that I will use tomorrow another grinding before chucking in its pH 4 Acid Bath.

I am sure that once i have done this (succesfully, hopefully), it will all just seem like common sense but right now I am questioning practically every move I make.

One problem with plastic grinders is that the plastic may get abraded/ground with the product. If you notice any plastic surfaces are worn down more than when you started, you probably have powdered plastic mixed with your MHRB.

Yeah i read that somewhere.

But considering i have already spent around 200 quid on raw materials for this project the thought of buying a heavy duty glass blender I wasn't a welcome one. Also, I am away to cook and soak the bark in far more nasty substances than inert plastic and am thinking that microscopic plastic beads would be the least of my worries. Besides, the side of the the coffee grinder looks not much worse for wear than it all ready was. Indeed, all plastic food blenders have some degree of scratching on them, does this mean that everytime someone has a milkshake from one of these things that they are feeding themselves plastic powder?

If you salt out your dmt from the solvent and do a thorough wash of the salts with dry acetone or IPA, it should remove plastic and plasticizer traces. This is good for people doing for example BLAB (or other similar teks) and salting out the solvent with fumaric acid solution, for example. Thing is, I guess you are doing a normal naphtha-based freeze-or-evap extraction?

And yeah I do think those plastic traces will be there when making your milkshake or cutting vegetables in a plastic cutting board. You say "inert" plastic, there is nothing inert about it. Most plastic contains plasticizers which is known to have effects on the body, plus if you are smoking dmt, burnt plastic cant be good for you. Im not sure how healthy digesting plastic is even if it didnt have plasticizers.

Now, the question is, how much of that really affects you in the microscopic amounts consumed? What about over our whole lifetimes? Personally I would rather like to avoid, so I use glass as much as possible, and in the case of alkaloids, washing the salts with clean solvents is a prudent move.

Yes, I am keeping things simple and am going to more or less stick to Lextex AB....with a freeze precipitation.

I agree regarding the microscopic plastic in that it is better out than in. However, if my end product is 'pure' or clear/white dmt crystals, wont i have gotten rid of all the plastic anyways? Even in the acid bath the powder is about to get, wont that seperate out the DMT acetate and leave the plastic behind? Last I checked was that plastic didn't dissolve in acid.

This will be my first extraction ever, and besides that I am no chemistry expert, but I would imagine that the processes invovled in the A/B extraction would eliminate the microscopic plastic crap anyways. (or I hope it does).
