Ground Syrian Rue vs Non-ground

SWIM recently received some rue today and was going to do some psilohuasca later this evening. He was going to consume the rue in capsules, but was unsure if it made a difference wither the rue was ground up into a powder or not...Any advice on this would be nice. Thanks.

grinding it will make it kick in faster (Which might help as the capsules slow things down already)
other than that it shouldn't really matter all that much (maybe a slight decrease in potency).

How long does it usually take to kick in? Would it be good to consume it before the mushroom tea? If so how long?

I always suggest people make tea rather than ingesting the seeds as just ground up powder..seem like an easier way to assimilate the harmalas while minimizing the plant fibers in the gut that lead to more unconfortable gut feelings.

(1) grind the seeds (2-3g)
(2) boil them in water for 15 minutes
(3) filter, keep the water
(4) put new water to the solids and boil for another 15 minutes
(5) make 3-4 boils in total, combine all 3 waters and boil them down to a managable size (around 1 shot)

How huch are you planning to ingest? (For me, Mushrooms are potentiated by Harmalas by 2-3x :shock: )

I have never done any experimentation with measurements, but I take Harmala tea 20-30 minutes before Mushrooms and it works well :thumb_up:

Just make a tea with the whole seeds. It is less messy this way. You only need 2x30 minutes with some vinegar and the result is nicer than the whole seeds. Ground up seeds are a bitch to work with and the whole seeds extract just fine. Manske process only really worked when I used whole seeds as ground seeds were just so much harder to work with!

Well, there was 3.5g of rue eaten in capsules, along with 1.5g of some really good penis envy mushrooms. Nothing much really happened, other then it lasting a few hours longer then it should have. The experience was really not anything more then what you would expect off 1.5 of these, other then the length. No visuals were even seen, all body and mental. Maybe next time the tea method will be used for the rue...

3.5g of rue should be decent even all on it's own. Make tea.

This shall have to be done next time for sure...Any tips on making the tea more manageable to drink? I have always heard it tastes very disgusting.

whole seeds never work for me , even making a tea from whole seeds is pointless if you wanna trip , powder it completely and just make a tea in a cup like you would with tea , or eat seed powder

even ground seeds are less effective than a fine powder

I guess im sensitive to harmalas or something but ive never ever grinded my seeds when doing tea, only when im eating seeds in capsules,

I also never bother with grinding them for extractions, i know i get some loss in yield but its worth not filtering imo.

rue is dirt cheap got 30g of crude harmalas from 500g of seeds, for like 20bucks

I've never ground my rue seeds, always just simmered them in water for ~30 minutes and then drank the tea. My understanding is that the alkaloids are mostly present in the seed coat anyway, and they are quite water soluble, so grinding is not necessary. If you really want to get everything out of the seeds (eg for an extraction) then triple boiling them for 2-3 hours with a little acid each time does the trick. Whole seeds will be a lot easier to filter out at the end too, powdered plant materials can be very tedious.
