Okay, so I decided to try doing a harmala extraction and got ahead of myself and mixed up some steps. I decided to do an a/b extraction. After filtering, I did the manske and then basified the mixture with lye. This is when I decided to double check the tek and realized I may have royaly screwed up.

If there is any way to salvage this mess, please let me know. It is currently being refrigerated ad there are two definite layers, but I'm not sure which to pull and what to discard. Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

You could heat the solution up a bit and add some warm vinegar to bring the ph back down and get all of the freebased harmalas to redissolve into the solution. From there you can do the manske as normal. Since there is salt already in the solution, you shouldn't need to add too much more; just enough to make up the difference from the vinegar you add.

Hope this helps!

Okay, after some sort of screw up, I think we have solved the issue. Somehow, I accisentally filtered all the goods out and was left with nothing but liquid in the jar. I then took all the gunk that was filtered out, dissolved it in vinegar filtered and manske. I now have what appears to be a nice pile of something. It's still wet, but it appears to be yellow/tan.

Should I do anything with this stuff or is it ready to go? I wish I had a camera. This has been a dificult one, but I have learned a little bit and have hope that my next extraction will go a bit smotother.

Thanks for the quick reply MelCat.
