Harmala extraction

alright, Im on step 11 on Harmalas Extraction and Separation Guide - DMT-Nexus Wiki . But the thing that is getting me, is i have sodium bicarbonate , not sodium carbonate. I know the tek says you can put sodium bicarbonate in the oven for an hour or two and it will turn into sodium carbonate, but at what temperature? My "science partner" says we dont need to do that, he says we can just add twice the amount of sodium carbonate. is he right?

Also, im not trying to seperate the harmalas, i only want to extract them. (besides, i really dont see the point of seperating them. but thats another story)

Your science partner is.... misinformed. Sodium bicarbonate will only get the PH up to 8.75 or so no matter how much you add, sodium carbonate gets it over 11.

here is the tek for converting sodium bicarbonate to sodium carbonate


SWIM finds it easiest to make saturated solutions of the two in tap water because sodium carbonate and sometimes sodium bicarbonate take some mixing a a few minutes to dissolve and it is easy to add too much and end up having sodium carbonate or bicarbonate in the bottom of the container, with the solution this doesn't happen.
