Has anyone ever quit caffeine?

I never got into coffee, but I started a Vyvanse prescription when I was 18. I wouldn't recommend it, at least not at the dose I was taking. The side effects started to accumulate though so I stopped taking stimulants for over ten years.

Ironically I sought to get back on it a few years ago when I was feeling less motivated than ever. I tried Adderall this time, 20mg in the morning. I'm supposed to take another 20mg eight hours later, but I don't need worse insomnia. It works well during work, helps me stay locked in. But I can feel my energy slide by the time I get home. It helps in a very subtle way; some days I wonder if I forgot to take it. I feel no addiction to it, I actually do forget to take it on my days off.

I think it's a lot harder to get a stimulant prescription these days, compared to when I was 18. Apparently if you've had it prescribed once you're grandfathered in (USA). My doctor had no issues restarting stimulants, although he was recommending I try a non-stimulant ADHD med.

Long story short, I don't think I'm missing anything by not letting coffee into my life. I actually share the second half of my script with a career barista, I assume she uses it in place of coffee. I think it could work like methadone - giving coffee addicts a buzz that breaks the association with a coffee ritual. I switched insurance and couldn't get my script for over a month, didn't notice any withdrawals, and after a couple weeks it didn't seem like I had any less energy or focus.

I'm on day three of another attempted breakaway from cannabis, which is really hard for me, so I understand the struggle.

Makes sense given that you are taking 20mg amphetamine daily. I use amphetamine very sparingly so I have no tolerance, and 5mg feel quite strong already.

Obviously you're taking it for medical reasons so it's different, but someone to use amphetamine only to substitute for the buzz of coffee (buzz which disappears very fast after just taking it for a few days) seems to be doing quite a bad tradeoff from a risk and long term harm perspective.

I drink a good amount of caffeine daily, in two times. As I said, there's no buzz whatsoever in it for me and there hasn't been one in many years. The wakefulness-promoting effects are still there, though. It's very likely that the wakefulness it produces now would be equivalent to normal wakefulness, and that I'm more drowsy than normal when not taking it. However it's still useful to me, as it lets me distribute my wakefulness in the moments of the day where it's more convenient.

Interestingly, whereas with Aya the idea tended to come to me that I should avoid most non-psychedelic substances, this never came up for caffeine. I examined my use and its effects under it several times and the conclusion was that it was basically good for me, and helpful.
